What is Open Burning Suite?

Open Burning Suite is a cross-platform desktop application for working with optical discs and disc images. It supports a wide range of disc formats — from classic CDs all the way to modern UHD Blu-ray — and talks directly to your optical drive at a low level for maximum compatibility and control.

🔥 Burn & Write

Burn disc images or files directly to disc with full control over the writing process:

• Supports CD-R/RW, DVD±R/RW, DVD-RAM, HD DVD, BD-R/RE, BDXL, UHD Blu-ray, and M-DISC archival media
• Multiple write modes: TAO (Track At Once), SAO (Session At Once), DAO (Disc At Once), and RAW modes
• Multi-copy — burn the same disc multiple times in one go
• Simulation mode — test your burn without actually writing to disc
• Overburn support for CDs
• Burn from CUE sheets, ISO, BIN/CUE, CCD/IMG/SUB, TOC/BIN, NRG, MDF/MDS, IMG, CDI

Create exact digital copies of your discs:

• Supports output to ISO, BIN/CUE, CCD/IMG/SUB, TOC/BIN, NRG, MDF/MDS, IMG, and CDI formats
• Raw 2352-byte sector reading for accurate, bit-perfect copies
• Subchannel extraction for preserving special disc data
• Audio paranoia mode for reliable audio CD ripping
• Console-specific gaming presets for accurate game disc copies

🏗 Build Disc Images

Create disc images from your files and folders before burning:

• ISO 9660, Joliet, UDF, Rock Ridge, and HFS+ filesystem support
• Hybrid filesystem images (e.g. ISO 9660 + UDF) for maximum compatibility
• Create bootable discs (El Torito standard)
• Build VCD / SVCD / XSVCD video disc images

🎵 Audio CDs

Everything you need for music discs:

• Create audio CDs with CD-TEXT (artist & track names embedded in the disc)
• Rip audio CDs to WAV or BIN/CUE
• Copy music files (WAV, MP3, FLAC, OGG, AAC, WMA, AIFF) directly to disc
• Import playlists in M3U, PLS, WPL, and ASX formats

🎬 Video Discs

Author and create video discs:

• DVD-Video authoring (VIDEO_TS folder structure)
• Blu-ray (BDMV) and BDAV recording format
• Blu-ray 3D (MVC / Side-by-Side / Top-and-Bottom)
• VCD / SVCD creation
• Powered by FFmpeg for video transcoding (optional install)

🖥 System Requirements

An optical disc drive is required for burning, reading, and verification. Image building works without a drive.

Video authoring features (DVD-Video, Blu-ray, VCD/SVCD) additionally require FFmpeg to be installed on your system.
