Since its first public version, SwiftTUI has aimed to make TUIs accessible by default.
Standard configuration SwiftTUI apps bundle a small local web server with which any terminal app can display in the browser — an inherently vastly friendlier environment for screen readers and accessibility tools than the command line.
v0.15.1 dramatically improves this experience.
- SwiftTUI apps now carry their full semantic accessibility metadata into their web browser display.
- The accessible experience is compatible with macOS VoiceOver.
- The accessibility is now bi-directional. Inputs are fully supported, and behave like regular inputs to VoiceOver and other screen readers.
Accessibility support carries over to all target platforms. SwiftTUI views rendered in native macOS and iOS apps have full VoiceOver support, and the Android host preview gains the equivalent accessibility metadata.
