Tsuzuku 5.2.1

@Syha-01 Syha-01 released this 26 Oct 00:39

What's new in 5.2.1

A fix for the app closing during playback, plus subtitles that went missing on some shows.

Fixed

  • The app no longer closes when you change episodes. Picking another episode from the player, Next or Previous episode, or turning the phone in and out of full screen could close Tsuzuku on episodes with signs drawn on screen.
  • Subtitles are back on some shows with signs on. On a few shows (Hell Mode among them) every subtitle line disappeared when "Signs where they are" was on. Your phone may already have this one as an in-app update.
  • Recently Updated no longer misses shows that came out this week.

Everything else is as in 5.2.0.

Why this one is a new APK, not an update

The crash fix is in the native code that draws signs, which an in-app update cannot change. Same package and signing key as before, so install it straight over the copy you have. Your list, progress, downloads and settings stay where they are.

tsuzuku-v5.2.1-arm64.apk is for 64-bit ARM phones (arm64-v8a), virtually every Android phone from 2016 onward. If it will not install, your phone is 32-bit: use tsuzuku-v5.2.1-universal.apk.

Tsuzuku TV 4.1 (beta 8)

A new series page, and subtitles you can stack. Most of this round comes from your reports on GitHub and Discord — thank you.

Series page

  • Poster up top — framed in red, with the title, rating, genres and synopsis beside it.
  • Japanese · Dubbed · Español — one switch next to Play, in place of the two big language cards and the Audio row. A line under it says what will play and from where.
  • Seasons over the episodes — the season tabs sit in the Episodes heading, next to the sort button, with more room under them.
  • Oldest first starts at episode 1 — down from the heading lands on the first episode in the order you picked; up from the episodes goes to the sort button.

Subtitles

  • Every language in one list — no more "Other languages" button.
  • More than one at once — signs & songs with dubtitles, or the typeset signs with their lines. Whatever is on is ticked and listed first, so you can see when an episode has both.
  • OK turns one on or off — the others stay as they are.

Everything else

  • Your TV's keyboard — OK on the search line opens the TV's own keyboard, voice included, and phone remote apps can type into it.
  • Recently Updated — shows out this week (Blue Box S2, Yozakura Family S2 Part 2, Aoashi S2) no longer drop off the row.
  • The remote stays on the page — up or down at the top or bottom of a page, and left or right off the end of a row, no longer jump into the menu.
  • Hold OK on Continue Watching — up or down closes the bar first.
  • Browser sign-in code — the QR is a proper square again and scans.

Read this before installing: it installs over Tsuzuku TV 4.0 and the earlier 4.1 betas and keeps your lists.

Tsuzuku 5.2.0

@Syha-01 Syha-01 released this 25 Oct 01:36

What's new in 5.2.0

Signs and songs drawn the way the release made them, Anime4K for sharper pictures on low-resolution streams, and a newer engine underneath.

Signs where they are

  • On-screen text, in its own fonts. Signs, notes and song lyrics show in the right place on the picture, styled the way the release made them, where the episode has them.
  • On by default. Turn it off in Settings → Playback → Signs where they are.

Anime4K

  • Sharper, cleaner pictures on lower-resolution streams, upscaled on your phone as it plays.
  • Three modes: A for most shows, B for blocky or jagged low-resolution video, C for clean sources that just need size. In the player, open Settings → Picture.
  • Half or Full precision. Half is lighter on the phone; Full is a touch more exact.

Also new since 5.1

  • English or Español, per series. A Language switch on every series page, beside SUB and DUB.
  • Anime in Spanish: AnimeAV1 with Spanish subtitles and the Latino dub, and TioAnime for phones that cannot play AnimeAV1.
  • Profile. Tap your picture at the top of Home: your account, MyAnimeList, AniList, TV and Online live there now.
  • Sign a TV in with one scan, and watch parties play along on the TV with the chat on screen.
  • TV buttons on Home, under your picture.
  • No more surprise mini player after leaving the app from another screen.

Why this one is a new APK, not an update

Typesetting and Anime4K are new native code, and Tsuzuku moved to a newer version of the engine underneath it, none of which an in-app update can add. Same package and signing key as before, so install it straight over the copy you have. Your list, progress, downloads and settings stay where they are.

@Syha-01 Syha-01 released this 18 Oct 21:02

What's new in 5.1.0

A floating tab bar made of liquid glass, and Tsuzuku TV: watch on your television with your phone and TV kept in step.

Floating tab bar

  • Liquid glass, if you want it. Pick Glass in Settings → Theme and the tab bar floats over the page, bending and blurring whatever scrolls under it, with a lens you can turn up or down.
  • Or Performance, a tinted version that is lighter on older phones. Your tab bar stays as it is until you choose.

Tsuzuku TV (beta)

  • Play on your TV. Scan the code on Tsuzuku TV and the episodes you open play over there.
  • Kept in step. Your Watching list goes to the TV, and what you watch on either one shows up on the other.
  • Get it from the app. The TV button on Home has a download and a short address to type into Downloader or your TV's browser: nani-me-website.vercel.app/tv.
  • Still in beta, so some things may not work yet. Tell us on Discord and we will fix it.

Also new since 5.0

  • Changes from other apps show up here. Mark an episode on MyAnimeList or AniList from another app and Tsuzuku picks it up when you come back.
  • Plan to Watch moves to Watching by itself once you are a minute into an episode.
  • More picture presets: Crisp, Bold, Bright, Cinema and Warm, next to Vivid.
  • Watch parties stay within a fraction of a second of the host, only the host controls playback, and you can delete your own messages.
  • The rankings podium stands the top five.
  • Where your downloads go is shown on the Downloads tab, with Change beside it.
  • The player's settings sheet no longer hides behind the navigation buttons.

Why this one is a new APK, not an update

The glass tab bar is drawn by new native code, which an in-app update cannot add. Same package and signing key as before, so install it straight over the copy you have. Your list, progress, downloads and settings stay where they are.

@Syha-01 Syha-01 released this 24 Oct 20:08

Tsuzuku TV 4.1 (beta 7)

Subtitle fix. On some episodes the subtitles came up in another language, such as Arabic, while typesetting was on. Typesetting now reads only English scripts, and only switches on where the script really has signs in it. Everywhere else, the server's own subtitles stay as they were.

Everything else is as in beta 6.

What's new in Tsuzuku TV 4.1 (beta 6)

Signs and songs now appear on screen where they belong, in the fansub's own fonts — on every server, not just Re:ANIME.

Typesetting

  • Signs where they are — openings and endings sing along word by word, and signs, letters and title cards are translated in place. It uses Re:ANIME's fansub scripts and draws them with libass, the same engine desktop players use.
  • On any server — the signs come from Re:ANIME and are laid over whatever server you are watching, as long as it is the same cut (within three seconds). The dialogue comes from the same script, so nothing shows twice.
  • Turn it off in Settings › Subtitles › Signs where they are.

Español

  • English or Español, per series — two cards on every series page say what each one plays and from where. Your choice is remembered for that series.
  • TioAnime — a second Spanish source. Its video is H.264, so TVs that can't play AnimeAV1's AV1 still get Spanish. AnimeAV1 is hidden on TVs that can't decode it.
  • Español from in Settings › Playback picks which Spanish source a card plays.

Home

  • Open on the Spotlight — Home can open full screen on the Spotlight, sliding on by itself; ◀ ▶ step through it and ▼ brings up the rows. You'll be asked once; it's also in Settings.
  • More rows — Most Viewed and Upcoming, as on the phone. Names now sit under the posters.
  • The poster beside the title, framed, on Home and on series pages.

The player

  • A clearer opening — while an episode starts you see the server it found, the subtitles, and how far it has buffered, instead of a black screen.
  • Episodes with pictures in the sheet, with names and how far you got.
  • Audio & subs together — Japanese or the dub along the top, then the subtitle tracks by what they're for.
  • Party explains what a watch party is before you start one.

Series page

  • Japanese titles in Japanese — set Titles to Japanese and the series page shows 葬送のフリーレン, not romaji. English shows the English name even where the site only had romaji.
  • Your list's logo — a show on your MyAnimeList or AniList list says so.
  • Read the whole summary — press ▲ from Play, then OK.
  • No dub available says so, instead of the switch disappearing.

Why it's bigger: typesetting needs libass, a real subtitle renderer, built for both the 64-bit and 32-bit chips TV boxes use. That is about 3 MB of the APK, which is now 11 MB. Nothing else grew.

Read this before installing: it installs over Tsuzuku TV 4.0 and the earlier 4.1 betas and keeps your lists.

@Syha-01 Syha-01 released this 22 Oct 02:11

What's new in Tsuzuku TV 4.1 (beta 3)

An important fix: your place in each episode stays put.

Fixed in beta 3

  • Watch spots no longer reset. When a phone connected MyAnimeList or AniList, its import could mark episodes as watched from the very start, and the TV took that over the spot where you really stopped. A played episode now always wins over an import, on the TV and on the phone.
  • The phone app got the same fix as an update; open it once so it picks it up.

Everything from beta 2 is still here: season tabs, the airing countdown, skip filler, watch parties, search and filters in My List, and signing in with one code.

Read this before installing: it installs over Tsuzuku TV 4.0 and the earlier 4.1 betas and keeps your lists. On Android 8 and newer the APK is 8 MB.

@Syha-01 Syha-01 released this 21 Oct 17:18

What's new in Tsuzuku TV 4.1 (beta 2)

Seasons, parties and your list, now on the TV.

Watching

  • Season tabs — every season in watch order, with its year, and the one you're on marked.
  • Next episode countdown on airing shows.
  • Skip filler — filler wears a dashed amber ring and a FILLER badge; Settings › Playback can skip it.
  • More openings marked — AniSkip fills in where the source has none.
  • Watch parties — start one on the TV and scan with your phone to chat, or cast your phone's party to the TV.

Your list

  • Search and filters in My List.
  • Sign in with one code — your phone's camera, the Tsuzuku app, or any browser.
  • Storage in the side bar, and a choice of which watch spots to bring from your account.

Fixed in beta 2

  • Series art no longer shows through behind the side menu.

Read this before installing: it installs over Tsuzuku TV 4.0 and keeps your lists. On Android 8 and newer the APK is 8 MB.

Tsuzuku 5.0.0

@Syha-01 Syha-01 released this 17 Oct 03:17

What's new in 5.0.0

Tsuzuku goes social: rankings, watch parties and friends, plus picture controls and a backup of your list. Everything that goes online is your choice.

Rankings

  • Every episode you finish counts. Pick a name, or join with your AniList or MyAnimeList account, and your hours climb through eight ranks.
  • Boards for today, this week and this month — who watched the most, and which shows everyone is watching.
  • A new challenge every week, and the week's top watcher is crowned on Sunday night.
  • Secret titles. Fourteen of them, each a card to collect, for the way you watch. Nobody is told how to get them.
  • Your picture on the boards — any character from AniList, or a photo of your own.
  • Asked once. The first time you open 5.0 it asks whether you want in. Say not now and it stays out of your way.

Watch parties

  • Watch together. Start a party from a series page or the player, pick the episode, and everyone plays, pauses and skips with the host.
  • Chat while you watch, with quick emoji and reactions on each message. Messages show in full screen too, then fade so they do not cover the episode.
  • Public or private. Share a link or a code, or make it public so anyone can join from the people button on Home.

Friends

  • Follow people from the boards to see their hours next to yours, and what they are watching right now if they choose to share it.
  • Share a list of shows with a link.

And more

  • Picture controls — brightness, contrast, colour and sharpness in the player settings, or one tap on Vivid.
  • Back up your list — saved shows, progress and settings, back on a new phone with a recovery code. Offered to anyone without AniList or MyAnimeList, which already keep your list.
  • Edit Home — add the lists and genres you want on Home, and put them in your order.

What goes online

Only what you turn on. Joining the rankings sends the show, episode number and length of each episode you finish. Sharing what you watch, the backup and problem reports are switches in Settings → Online. An anonymous install count, so we know how many people use the app, can be switched off there too.

Why this one is a new APK, not an update

It changes the native side of the app, which an in-app update cannot replace. Same package and signing key as before, so install it straight over the copy you have. Your list, progress, downloads and settings stay where they are.
