Ideas for enhancing checklists: vernacular names, checklist source, display options

Ideas for checklists from @Barkworth (Intermountain Herbaria/Open Herbarium user):

New Feature: Many papers on medicinal plants that I see include vernacular names as part of a table. It would be useful to be able to upload them, with the appropriate sciname and source citation, into a portal’s taxonomic structure either as part of a checklist upload or independently (some may be in papers that do not include a checklist. All the names in the paper I have seen are written using the Latin alphabet and none mention the language of the transliterated name.

New Feature: Source in checklists: I think there may be a character limit. What I would like is two fields – one for the doi and one that can accommodate an abbreviated author (Hussain et al. 2026) plus the journal name, volume, and page number.

New Feature: In Checklists, enable more choice in displaying the results. In Botany, it sorting by the upper levels is really useful – besides – the educator side of me wishes to encourage understanding of phylogenetic relationships rather than knowledge of the alphabet – using higher levels in the classification can help in that regard.
