This is the first GitHub release since 4.98.0, so it collects every change from 4.98.1 through 4.99.2. In Theater Split, one click on the video pauses it again. DeArrow now works on the cards YouTube uses today, and it no longer adds a "SponsorBlock data" badge to each one.
4.99.2 (2026-10-13)
Fixed
- Theater Split: one click on the video pauses it again. The split kept resizing the player about 20 times a second, and YouTube took every click during a resize for a seek drag, so it never paused. The page is idle again too. The standalone Theater Split userscript (1.0.24) had the same loop and gets the same fix.
Removed
- DeArrow no longer puts a "SponsorBlock data" badge under every card it changes. The credit for DeArrow's data (CC BY-NC-SA 4.0) is still in the DeArrow setting's description and in the README.
4.99.1 (2026-10-12)
Changed
- Settings has a new charcoal workspace across all eleven pages. Simpler headings, larger text and unboxed icons make the controls easier to scan. Video Hider uses a quieter summary row and a clearer empty state.
- DeArrow's cover choices now use the selected language in all eleven locales.
- Theater Split follows the same design, with a larger video title, upload details on their own line and more room around comments. Reply links use coral by default, and custom themes and accent colors still apply. The Download label stays visible until the pane needs the space.
4.99.0 (2026-10-12)
Changed
- DeArrow is on from the start, with both its title and its cover replacement. It used to ship switched off. That only reaches new installs: an existing install keeps the setting it had saved, so turn DeArrow on in Settings if it was off.
Added
- DeArrow now changes the cover of a video nobody has submitted a thumbnail for, the way DeArrow itself does. A new setting, Covers Without a Submission, picks what goes there: a random frame from DeArrow's thumbnail cache (the default, and DeArrow's own default), one of the stills YouTube takes near the start, middle or end of every upload, or the original cover. Astra only reads DeArrow's cache for the random frame. When the cache has nothing for a video, YouTube's still from near the start shows instead, so DeArrow's server is never asked to render a frame. Live streams, premieres and upcoming videos keep their covers.
- DeArrow puts the new title in the browser tab on a watch page, and puts it back if YouTube rewrites the tab title.
Fixed
- DeArrow now works on the cards YouTube uses today. Home, Subscriptions, channel pages, search and the recommendations beside a video moved to a newer card that DeArrow didn't recognize, so on most pages it changed no titles and no covers. Playlists and mixes are left alone, because their link points at just one of their videos.
- DeArrow looks up six cards at a time instead of one by one, so a page fills in within seconds rather than a few cards at a time.
- The DeArrow title on a watch page is no longer skipped when YouTube draws the heading late, and recommendations that load after the page opens get picked up too.
- A DeArrow title now reads the new title to screen readers instead of the clickbait one.
- The DeArrow title on a watch page used to render as a blank heading, because the element YouTube draws it with renders itself empty when copied. The new title is drawn as plain text under the heading, the way DeArrow does it.
4.98.2 (2026-10-12)
Fixed
- DeArrow no longer swaps a creator's thumbnail for the video's first frame (usually black) when voters picked "keep the original thumbnail". It also skips a top thumbnail with a negative score that nobody locked, as DeArrow's API docs ask.
- DeArrow titles now honor the ">" marker DeArrow puts before a word whose casing must stay as is ("How >NASA builds rockets"). Only a marker at the very start was handled before, so a marked word later in the title showed the ">" and got lowercased anyway.
4.98.1 (2026-10-12)
Changed
- Theater Split opens faster. The panel slides in about twice as quickly, and YouTube's player controls fit the narrower video right away instead of running under the comments for a moment. The pane also opens on the video title up front, so scrolling straight away no longer gets pulled back to the top.
- Theater Split reply rows are tidier. "N replies" now lines up under the comment text, and the broken thread connector that floated beside it is gone.
Fixed
- Clicking "Add a comment" in Theater Split or with Chat Style Comments on left the "Add a comment..." box sitting above the editor that opened, a second box that did nothing. Now the box itself turns into the editor, and in Theater Split the editor is a single field without an extra frame and underline inside it.
