v0.68.0
Hushfeed v0.68.0 has 106 patches for global TikTok 47.0.3, 47.1.3 and 47.1.4 (com.zhiliaoapp.musically). It needs Morphe Manager 1.34.0 or newer, since it's built on patcher 1.15.1. Manager 1.33.0 asks for an update first.
Original photos save as full-size JPEGs now, so they open everywhere. Hiding the status bar takes TikTok's black strip with it, and a new switch clears the leftover controls off Clear display. Back up, Restore, Import watch history and the Feature Gate Lab's file actions offer to stop waiting when a file app hangs.
What's changed
- Download original photos saves every photo as a JPEG (#105). TikTok lists each photo as a HEIF copy first, so they were landing as .heif files that a lot of gallery apps and computers can't open, and some phones, Samsungs included, can't decode TikTok's HEIF at all. Hushfeed now takes the WebP copy TikTok lists beside each HEIF and saves it again as a full-size JPEG on Android 9 and newer. When TikTok lists a JPEG copy, that one is saved byte for byte instead. A photo that can't be converted keeps the file TikTok sent, and so does one with see-through parts. The setting's description says JPEG now too, and story photos work the same way.
- Hiding the status bar now also removes the black strip TikTok keeps above videos for it, and on Android 14 and older the video draws behind the camera cutout instead of below it (#97). A new Hide the Clear display controls switch takes the close button, progress bar and pause and speed buttons off the screen while Clear display is on, along with the close button photo posts show in the corner. They're back the moment you leave Clear display.
- Clear Display now hides the stories button above Following when TikTok leaves it up, and puts it back as soon as you leave Clear Display (#84). Pause leaves both the stories button and the top tabs to TikTok. Automatic Clear Display also waits until TikTok has really cleared the screen before it counts a try, so a first video TikTok wasn't ready for still gets cleared.
- Automatic Clear Display retries on the current video after focus returns, including the first video after startup (#84). A canceled or failed attempt no longer prevents another try. Manual exit remains respected, and callbacks from an earlier video cannot cancel the next video's timer.
- Back up, Restore and Import watch history don't get stuck behind a slow file app anymore. If the file app hasn't answered after a few seconds, the row offers to stop waiting, and stopping before anything was read or written leaves your settings and history as they were. A backup the file app already has is the one exception: the row says the file app hasn't said yet whether it saved it, and you get the real answer once it does. A file app that never lets go of a file holds only that row, which says so, instead of piling more work up behind it. Turning the phone mid-restore keeps the restore going.
- Feature Gate Lab's Export loaded values and Import loaded values don't get stuck behind a slow file app anymore. If the file app hasn't answered after a few seconds, the Lab offers to stop waiting, and stopping before anything was read or written changes nothing, not even a file you picked to replace. Tapping either one again while a file is still out says so, where it used to queue another to run whenever the first one ended. Exporting over an older, bigger export no longer leaves the end of the old file behind, which made the new one unreadable.
- Picking an existing backup file to replace no longer risks losing it. If the backup stops, or fails before anything goes into the file (a feed rule list too long for a backup, say), the file you picked keeps your older backup instead of being deleted. An empty file the picker made for the backup is still cleaned up.
- Settings search lists the rows where your search is a whole word first. Searching "counts" used to put Hide verified accounts and Blocked creators, where it only turns up inside "accounts", above the rows that are about counts. Rows that match only inside a longer word still follow, in page order, and translated settings sort by the same rule.
- Settings search now finds every box in a checklist, ticked or not, so searching "counts" finds Counts under the buttons in the right column list. Opening a box's result opens the list scrolled to that box without changing it. A list that's open when the screen rotates comes back with your unsaved ticks.
- Switch rows in Hushfeed's settings change shape when the screen is narrow and the text is large. The switch moves under the text, at the end of the row, and the title and description get the whole width. A German title at twice the text size on a small phone no longer breaks mid-word into four short lines. Wider screens keep the usual layout, and a row scrolled from one shape into the other changes back.
- What's new now tells you the notes are in English when the rest of the settings are in your language. The notes are also marked as English text for screen readers.
- Undo clearing seen videos now restores history in the background and reports how many cleared records still fit the history limits. It no longer says videos were restored when newer watches leave no room for them. A failed save keeps Undo available.
- Undo now commits watches recorded during restoration before counting them. Older queued writes also preserve newer watch times that Undo has already saved.
- Media saves now honor the server's full retry delay, including HTTP dates, before following a redirect or trying another mirror or subtitle track. A delay beyond the save's time limit stops the job with a clear message and keeps files already saved. Cancel also interrupts a retry wait.
- Saving a diagnostic report or a feature gate report runs on a thread of its own, so a slow media store can't hold up the threads the rest of Hushfeed shares. Tapping Save again while a report is still saving says so instead of starting a second one.
- Hushfeed now builds on Morphe patcher 1.15.1, so it needs Morphe Manager 1.34.0 or newer. Manager 1.33.0 asks for an update before it loads the bundle. ARSCLib follows the patcher to 9b742c412d, with its hashes checked against the downloaded files, and the release checks patch with desktop CLI 1.18.1.
- Every Guava request in the build now resolves to 33.7.2, the release outside GHSA-xxph-c9ww-hj94, across the settings, plugin and project graphs rather than only where the catalog's pin reached. Its checksums were verified against Maven Central before the strict dependency check accepted them. Guava stays on the build and patching side: the patch bundle and the extension carry none of it. The check that patch sources don't import Guava directly used to pass without reading a file. It reads them now.
- An edit to the Java extension alone no longer reruns the fingerprint checks against the APK fixtures, since those never read it. Full test commands and release checks still cover every test, and a change to a patch, a test, a dependency or a fixture still reruns them.
- Documentation edits no longer rerun unchanged APK fixture tests. Full test commands and release checks still cover every test, and source-reading checks now track their external inputs. Replacing an APK invalidates test results even when its size and timestamp match.
- Local storage scanner checks now keep Java diagnostics visible without treating successful runs as failures in Windows PowerShell.
- Local APK signing now accepts harmless Java startup diagnostics from heap and CPU limits. Invalid certificates and failed signing checks still stop installation.
Update
Update Morphe Manager to 1.34.0 or newer, refresh the Hushfeed source and patch TikTok again. Keep the manager's existing signing key so your login and settings carry over. The .mpp is a patch bundle, not a TikTok APK.
Checked
- 2877 runtime tests and 546 patch tests passed. Both Android lint checks passed.
- All 106 patches applied to all three supported APKs with desktop CLI 1.18.1. Resource checks passed, and the attached release receipt records the exact bundle and each target's result.
- On a Samsung phone running TikTok 47.0.3: photo posts saved as JPEGs that open in the gallery (#105), and Back up, Restore and Import watch history worked against both the phone's Downloads and Google Drive. With Drive cut off mid-open, Restore and Import offered to stop waiting, and a stop changed nothing. The restore kept its place through a rotation. Feature Gate Lab exported its loaded values to Downloads.
- Hide the Clear display controls and the status bar strip were checked on Android 14 with a hole-punch camera and on Android 16, on the main feed, search results and photo posts (#97). Automatic Clear Display passed its first-video, interrupted and paused runs on TikTok 47.0.3, 47.1.3 and 47.1.4 (#84).
