HushThreads v0.0.4 has 10 patches for Threads 449.0.0.54.82 (com.instagram.barcelona), and it works with Threads 448.0.0.54.85 too. Four of the patches are new, and the share links you hand out are cleaner.

New patches

  • Open links in browser opens a web link you tap in Threads in your own browser, or in the app Android picks for that site, instead of Threads' built-in browser. A link wrapped in Threads' click tracker goes out as its real address with fbclid and the other tracking tags taken off. Threads, Instagram, Facebook and Meta pages stay in Threads so sign-in and Accounts Center keep working. It's on by default and has its own switch under Privacy.
  • Disable video autoplay keeps videos in your feed, on profiles and in threads on their cover frame as you scroll. Tap one and it plays full screen with Threads' usual controls. It's off by default, so pick it in Manager if you want it.
  • Block background-return feed refresh keeps your place in For you when you come back to Threads within ten minutes, or after any time away with No time limit on. Pull to refresh and a fresh launch still load new posts. It's off by default too.
  • Hide suggested users takes the cards that suggest accounts to follow out of your feed. It has its own switch, and ordinary posts and reposts stay where they are.

Changes

  • Sanitize sharing links now hands out the post's own link, threads.com/@name/post/code, in place of Threads' short share link. Threads makes a new short link every time you share, each one tied to that share. Copy link gives you the clean link now.
  • Threads 448.0.0.54.85 for arm64 is supported alongside 449.0.0.54.82. All 10 patches apply to both.
  • Safe mode got a full check on a Galaxy S22. If Threads crashes three times in a row right after it starts, HushThreads pauses itself on the next start so you can get back in, with your switches kept. Resume brings every patch back.
  • The Pause, Resume and Undo button next to HushThreads' status is bigger and easier to tap.

Update

  1. You need Morphe Manager 1.32.0 or newer. If HushThreads is already one of your patch sources, Manager shows 0.0.4 once it refreshes. If it isn't, add it: https://morphe.software/add-source?github=SysAdminDoc%2FHushThreads
  2. Patch the arm64-v8a bundle of Threads 449.0.0.54.82 (version code 511908382) or 448.0.0.54.85 (version code 511808302).
  3. Patch with the Morphe Manager signing key you used last time. That's what lets the update install over your patched Threads and keep your data. Coming from the stock Threads, uninstall it first.
  4. Sign in with your Instagram username and password.

The .mpp download is a patch bundle, not a Threads APK. Installation instructions.

Validation

448 runtime tests and 156 patch tests passed locally, along with both Android lints and the release script checks. All 10 patches applied without forcing to Threads 449.0.0.54.82 and 448.0.0.54.85, with no resource or injected-code structural errors. The dependency advisory check passed.
