HamDMR v1.0.0 (64-bit Windows Standalone)

Made with ❤️ and RF passion by TA1EEI
A modernized, tactical digital voice client for DMR, YSF, P25, NXDN, and D-Star.

This standalone release contains all required runtime libraries and QML modules bundled via MinGW 64-bit. No Qt installation or development toolchain is required on the host system.

    • Real-time global APRS-IS packet ingestion stream.
    • Automated position beaconing with customizable SSID and beacon status comments.

  • Bidirectional Maidenhead Grid Converter:
    • Automatic, seamless conversion between Maidenhead QTH Locators (e.g., KN41aa) and decimal GPS latitude/longitude coordinates.

    • High-contrast, clean cyber-dark theme engineered for nighttime shack operations.
    • Automatic maximized desktop launch (Window.Maximized) on startup.
  • Zero Config Leakage & Complete Portability:
    • Runtime credentials, DMR IDs, and passwords are saved exclusively to the host's Windows Registry (HKCU\Software\nostar\DroidStar). The distributed .zip binary package contains zero personal data and leaves no local file artifacts.

📋 Prerequisites (Before You Connect)

To transmit and receive across DMR networks (such as BrandMeister or TGIF), ensure you have:

  1. Valid Amateur Radio Callsign.
  2. DMR ID: Issued by RadioID.net.
  3. BrandMeister Hotspot Security Password: Configured inside your BrandMeister SelfCare dashboard (SelfCare -> Hotspot Security).
  4. AMBE Vocoder Plugin: Required to decode/encode software AMBE voice streams.

🚀 Installation & Setup Guide

1. Download & Extract

  1. Download HamDMR-v1.0.0-win64.zip from the Assets section below.
  2. Right-click the .zip file and choose Extract All... to an accessible location (e.g., C:\HamDMR or Desktop).
  3. Launch DroidStar.exe (or HamDMR.exe).

2. Software Vocoder Installation

Due to licensing requirements, the AMBE software vocoder plugin is not distributed within the binary package. Load it via either of the following methods:

  • Method A: In-App Download (Recommended):

    1. Navigate to the Settings tab.
    2. In the Vocoder URL field, paste:

    3. Click the download/update button in the app.

  • Method B: Manual Installation:

    1. Open the plugin repository: http://pizzanbeer.net/droidstar/plugins/
    2. Download vocoder_plugin.winnt.x86_64.
    3. Place the downloaded file directly inside the extracted HamDMR-v1.0.0-win64 root directory or into its plugins folder.
    4. Ensure Vocoder is set to Software vocoder under Settings.

3. Station Configuration

  1. In the Settings tab, configure:
    • Callsign: Your callsign.
    • DMRID: Your 7-digit DMR ID.
    • BM Pass: Your BrandMeister Hotspot Security Password.
    • Latitude / Longitude / Location: Station coordinates.
  2. Click Update hosts and Update ID files to download the latest global talkgroup and DMR user databases.
  3. Switch to the Main tab, select your preferred DMR Talkgroup (TG), and key up!

📡 APRS Configuration (APRS Tab)

  1. Navigate to the APRS tab.
  2. Click APRS EDIT ⚙ to configure your Callsign, SSID (e.g., -7 for handhelds, -9 for mobile stations), and beacon comment.
  3. Update either your Latitude/Longitude or your Maidenhead Grid — coordinates synchronize automatically.
  4. Click START TRACKING to establish an active APRS-IS connection.
