01. Setting Up Your Dev Environment
Git is the version control used for
Yinglet Creator. Not only that, it's used to pull down packages that are critical for buildingYinglet Creator. As such, it is also mandatory for anyYinglet CreatorDevelopment

Navigate to the Git-SCM download page and download / install from there

While installing, ensure
Git LFS (Large File Support)is checked
That's it. We'll verify that it worked in the next step.
- Using
File Explorer, find a location on disk where you want your project files to live.-
I personally use
C:\Users\{username}\Desktop\Projects\

- Right-click and select
Open Git Bash here(this should be new)
- Paste the following into the terminal:
git clone https://github.com/TBartl/YingletCreator.git-
Note that
Ctrl + Vdoesn't work, butRight-Click->Pastedoes

- Hit enter, and wait for the download to finish
If it works, you'll see the new folder:
The

- Navigate to the Unity Download page and download / install from there.

Note: This just installs the
Unity Hub, a small piece of technology that lets you actually install the editor

- In the
Unity Hub, navigate to theProjectstab - Near the top, hit
AddthenAdd project from disk - Select your new
YingletCreatorfolder
- Once added, click it.
- It will ask if you want to install the missing editor version. Install it.
- While installing, you may want to include the
Microsoft Visual Studio Community 2022module if you plan on doing any programming

Once it finishes, you'll finally be able to open the YingletCreator project. This will take some time on your first open. When it finally loads, you'll want to open the Scenes/CharacterCreator.unity scene down in the Project panel below.
At this point you can hit the play button up at the top and see the game run!

Blender is a free 3D modelling application. You'll want to download it if you have plans to make any new content: fur patterns, poses, hair, clothes, etc...
- I highly recommend installing the Ucupaint addon. It makes texturing 100x easier.
- Inkscape is a free vectoring tool. I use it to develop the UI, eyes, mouths, and some other things
- Krita is a free drawing application. I use it sparingly for texturing some props.
- Paint.NET is a free photo editing software that is sometimes handy
- Audacity is a free audio editing software. I use it to clean up sound effects.
