Archery v0.1.0 Release Notes
We're excited to announce the initial release of Archery, a Go library that provides a user-friendly interface to the Apache Arrow compute package.
Overview
Archery v0.1.0 provides a comprehensive set of functions for working with Arrow arrays, including arithmetic operations, filtering, aggregation, sorting, and comparison. This release focuses on providing a solid foundation with implementations for the most commonly used functions.
Features
Arithmetic Operations
- Basic operations: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division
- Mathematical functions: power, square root, absolute value, sign, negation
Filtering Operations
- Filter by mask, greater than, less than, equal to, not equal to
- Filter between values, by multiple of, in a set, non-null values
- Custom filtering with boolean masks
Aggregation Operations
- Statistical functions: sum, mean, min, max, variance, standard deviation
- Count operations: total count, non-null count
- Percentile functions: quantile, median
Sorting Operations
- Sort arrays in ascending or descending order
- Get indices that would sort an array
- Extract elements by position (take)
- Find nth element in sorted order
- Calculate ranks of elements
- Remove duplicates (unique values)
Comparison Operations
- Equality and inequality comparisons
- Greater than, less than comparisons
- Logical operations: and, or, not
Implementation Notes
- Functions are implemented to handle common Arrow data types: Int64, Float64, and String
- Null values are properly handled throughout the library
- Custom implementations are provided for functions not available in the underlying compute package
- All functions follow a consistent API pattern for ease of use
