BCI v1.3.0 Release Notes
Epoch Hashphase Sampling + UI Compression
This release introduces a new way to observe the network—through time within the epoch, not just current state.
⚡ New: Epoch Hashphase Hashrate Sampling
- Adds hashrate sampling across the 2016-block difficulty cycle
- Samples at:
- 10% · 25% · 50% · 75% · 100%
- Uses getnetworkhashps(144, height) for stable, operator-friendly estimates
- Edge-triggered:
- Each phase sampled once only
- No duplicate or noisy updates
Design behavior:
- 0% is visual only (no RPC call)
- Sampling begins naturally within the session (no retroactive fill)
- Maintains a rolling 5-slot window
New header strip:
[---, ---, ---, ---, 1024] EH/s
This provides a compact view of how hashpower evolves within the current epoch.
🧭 UI Compression (More Signal, Less Space)
Reduced vertical footprint while preserving clarity:
- Merge Connections In / Out onto a single line (flashing “In” preserved)
- Merge Total Bytes Received / Sent
- Merge Average / Median Fee (BTC)
Also: - Adjusted layout spacing to eliminate unused rows
- Improved scan efficiency, especially on smaller displays
🛠️ Fix: Consensus Warning Alignment
- Consensus Security popup now evaluates only:
- Active chain + top 2 visible forks
- Prevents hidden forks from triggering warnings not shown in UI
Result:
BCI only warns about what it shows
📡 Improvement: Block Observation Logging
- Detects and logs block height gaps
- Captures missed blocks between observations
- Improves visibility into:
- RPC timeouts
- observation delays
- Logs miner-fetch RPC errors with associated block height
🎯 Result
- Introduces intra-epoch hashrate context
- Reduces UI noise while increasing information density
- Aligns alerts with visible state
- Improves operator awareness of observation gaps
🔭 Looking Ahead
- Next major addition: 30 chain-day miner trend
- Built from existing 144-block rolling samples
- Will introduce a new toggleable panel for longer-term miner distribution shifts
