Jet Force Gemini Recomp v1.1.0

Choose a tag to compare

@TK22-26 TK22-26 released this 09 Oct 19:06

Download JFG-1.1.0-windows-x64.zip, extract the entire ZIP, and open JFG-Launcher.exe. This is the playable Windows x64 bundle, including the game runtime and required libraries.

  • Restored a centered 4:3 game area, preserving cutscene bars in wide windows and fullscreen.
  • Added one-time ROM import. After a successful import, the original ROM file can be moved or deleted; play uses the local copy.
  • Removed the central ROM banner after import. Game > Select ROM... remains available.
  • Removed the need for Git, Python, Visual Studio Build Tools, WSL, and a first-run build.
  • Added a clear hardware-graphics requirement message for software-only VMs.

Existing saves and settings remain in your profile. No ROMs or game assets are included. Import your own supported North American .z64 ROM. The simplified installation approach was inspired by the Zelda64Recomp team; see the README for credit.

JFG Launcher 0.4.0-preview.4

@TK22-26 TK22-26 released this 05 Oct 04:11

JFG Launcher 0.4.0-preview.4

Graphics completion now follows the original game's yield request during
the Vela unlock sequence. Audio continues playing while buffered samples
remain, removing the avoidable pause observed in that scene. Recycled
renderer memory is refreshed for CPU textures, fixing the recorded opaque
water-splash rectangle.

Changes

  • Correct pending graphics completion timing during audio scheduling.
  • Keep nonempty audio queues playing while retaining startup buffering and
    recovery after a genuine underrun.
  • Restore particle transparency after framebuffer memory is reused.
  • Allow longer input recordings and preserve bounded replay parsing.
  • Add an opt-in Juno double-run-speed mod setting. Normal gameplay is unchanged.

Existing volume/mute controls, crash reports, controller mappings, shadows,
live map/inventory and experimental navigation remain available.

Playtest progress

Maintainer-reported progress: Juno reached Mizar's Palace after Tawfret;
Vela was tested up to Cerulean; Lupus progress has not yet been reported.
These sessions used health/enemy-clearing mods. They demonstrate traversal
coverage, not complete unmodified campaign or original-console accuracy.

Validation and remaining checks

  • Eight focused native renderer, scheduler, audio/graphics bridge, replay,
    playback-buffer and mod tests passed.
  • Two 30,642-VI particle replays completed normally. The matching comparison
    retained identical final CPU memory while restoring splash transparency.
  • The current native runtime was rebuilt with both timing and particle fixes.
  • The earlier real-time Vela sequence replay recorded no audio underruns or
    interior audio pauses; audible confirmation still needs a playtest.
  • The maintainer confirms all previously reported broken particle effects now
    render correctly: splash, dust, pickup sparkles, ship exhaust and Tawfret rain.
    Juno water effects remain untested.
  • One prior run failed in DirectX shader compilation near a Windows desktop
    compositor failure. Monitored reruns succeeded; its cause remains unconfirmed.
  • Windows 10 setup limitations and experimental navigation restrictions remain
    as described in known issues.

Install

Use your supported US big-endian ROM. Select Set up and build again to
build this launcher's pinned source revision, then launch with your existing
save profile. The package contains the launcher, setup guides and license.
It does not contain a ROM, game assets or a generated game executable.

JFG Launcher 0.4.0-preview.3

Pre-release

@TK22-26 TK22-26 released this 05 Oct 00:34

Windows x64 playtest preview. Supply your own supported North American ROM; the launcher builds the game locally.

  • Live volume and mute controls.
  • Restored original CPU processing of the player shadow mask.
  • Sound-player clock recovery after queue overflow.
  • Optional live map with height layers, collision geometry, exits, items, chests, NPC rewards and Mizar token dots.
  • Optional inventory window with Juno, Vela and Lupus tabs.
  • Experimental Navigation mod now shares walking, calibrated jump chains, dialogue and destination execution across supported NPC rewards, chests, keys and exits.
  • Corrected shader header rebuild dependencies, following lukedeardoff's report.

Download JFG-Launcher.exe or the ZIP with the same launcher, guides and license. Close the old launcher before upgrading. Rebuild an older game with Set up and build to gain the native fixes; keep your existing save profile. Leave Navigation mod off for normal play.

Automation remains experimental: the latest stair/NPC sequence has recorded-geometry and simulated-command validation, not a completed native traversal. Full campaign completion, original-console accuracy and a pristine Windows installation remain unverified. Windows 10 setup still has known issues. Lupus hover, moving platforms and unsupported scripted gates require manual play.

Only the launcher, documentation and license are distributed. No ROM, game assets, generated game executable, runtime DLLs, saves or debug symbols are included. HD cosmetic variants remain community-maintained.

@TK22-26 TK22-26 released this 04 Oct 04:46

Windows x64 playtest preview. Use your supported North American big-endian ROM to build the game locally.

  • Choose the affected support session; failed sessions survive later successful launches.
  • Reports include filtered setup/compiler errors, Windows/GPU driver details, controller settings, game-build identity and recent runtime progress.
  • Rebuilt games record best-effort crash stacks and support Capture freeze while running. Shared ZIPs contain text stack locations, not raw game memory.
  • Windows builds use short per-checkout cache paths. Dependency downloads enable Git long paths and retry incomplete submodule initialization.

Download JFG-Launcher.exe, or the ZIP with the same launcher, guides and license. Close the old launcher before upgrading. Rebuild your game with Set up and build to gain native crash/freeze capture; saves stay in your existing profile. No automatic diagnostic upload occurs.

Windows 10 setup still needs work on firmware-virtualization detection, older WSL installations, and PowerShell prerequisite probes. A pristine Windows/UAC/reboot installation and full campaign completion remain unverified. See the known issues.

Only the launcher, documentation and license are distributed. No ROM, game assets, generated game executable, runtime DLLs, saves or debug symbols are included.

@TK22-26 TK22-26 released this 02 Oct 02:58

Windows x64 ROM-to-play preview. Supply your supported North American big-endian ROM; setup builds the game on your PC.

  • Fixes the reported crash when pressing Start during gameplay.
  • Adds local crash diagnostics and Create support report for a filtered ZIP you can attach to an issue.
  • Adds Controllers with Xbox/XInput detection, button remapping/capture, stick selection, inversion and thresholds.
  • Preserves saves and provides keyboard fallback. Rebuild an older game to use the new runtime features.

Download JFG-Launcher.exe, or the ZIP containing the same launcher, guides and MIT license. The first setup can download several GB and require administrator approval/restart. No ROM, game assets, generated game code, game executable or runtime DLLs are distributed.

This is a playtest preview. Full campaign completion, pristine Windows installation and broad controller hardware coverage remain unverified. Other controller types need an XInput-compatible driver/adapter.

Windows ROM-to-play prototype 0.2.0

Pre-release

Choose a tag to compare

@TK22-26 TK22-26 released this 01 Oct 20:40

This Windows x64 prototype builds and launches a local native game runtime from your own supported US ROM.

  1. Download and extract JFG-Launcher-0.2.0-prototype.1-windows-x64.zip.
  2. Clone the source with git clone --branch launcher-preview https://github.com/TK22-26/JetForceGemini-Recomp.git.
  3. Follow BUILD-SETUP.md to install Python 3.11+, Git, Visual Studio 2022 C++/CMake and WSL2 Ubuntu 24.04.
  4. Open JFG-Launcher.exe, select your US big-endian .z64 ROM, and click Build from ROM. Select the source checkout if prompted.
  5. When compilation finishes, click Launch game. Later launches reuse the build and your save profile.

The supported ROM SHA-1 is 493ced9008dbe932d6e91179b68e8630cf23a023. The first build downloads dependencies and can take several minutes. This is currently a developer-tool setup, not a self-contained installer.

Verified locally on Windows: fresh ROM-derived CPU/audio generation and native compilation, title/menu input, Goldwood gameplay, movement and firing, audio output, save-file persistence across restart, and the launcher start/close path. Launcher and bootstrap tests pass. Full campaign completion and console parity remain open; repository-wide CI still has documented baseline failures.

The ZIP contains only the standalone launcher, setup guides and license. No ROM, extracted assets, generated game code, game executable, save files or runtime DLLs are distributed. Keep the runtime produced on your computer local.

Controls: WASD movement, Shift full movement speed, Space jump/A, C fire/Z, Enter Start, Escape exit. Saves are in %LOCALAPPDATA%\JFGRecomp\profiles\default.

Source commit: a302c7c883279727422d2c45d0f27296023bf677. The source is on launcher-preview; the default branch remains the initial public snapshot while review is pending. See the included guides for full controls and playtest reporting.
