C# vs TMDL editing #11

Hi guys, finally getting my (or Claude's) hands dirty on the CLI... Before doing anything, I installed the plugin/skill. Very first thing I did (to start easy ;-)): find out that 'workspace mode' is available and so easy to use. Love that! It's just that workspace mode has been the anchor in my workflow when using agents, so love how easily it integrates. Next stop: do a simple test - add a column to a table in an existing semantic model using claude code, the CLI (obviously), against the local model. What struck me was how it went straight into 'manually editing the TMDL file', which I noticed because I saw a comment about 'be carefull for indentation'. This felt off, would you agree? Manually editing TMDL files should be the very last resort, and is one of the big advantages of the CLI, as almost anything can now be done using commands, flags, and C# by an agent? Am I getting this right or am I missing smth? If this is indeed not the intended way of working, explicitly mentioning in the skill to always prefer anything over manual TMDL editing, or poiting out the preferred 'cascade' would be helpful. I did not test it multiple times, so I cannot say if this would happen repetitively... I'm not CLI genius, and by all means just discovering, but love what I've seen so far! Cya |

The plugin was definitely installed. And I explicitly pointed the agent to it...yet still it started manually editing TMDL files instead of using the CLI...very bizarre, but maybe smth stuck in Claude's memory from things I did in the past...looking at the skill, the only thing it talkes about is the CLI so why on earth would Claude not use it then, right? Maybe an edge case, and as AI is non-deterministic, it might not happen again, I don't know. Anyways, I just figured, a simple statement like 'never text-edit tmdl files' or so might capture this. regards |

Just to make sure we're on the same page, did you run the commands shown here, and did that result in something like this?

I used the terminal UI, but the rest seems the same 
I installed the CLI, installed the marketplace, then the plugin/skill. And it struck me that the very first thing it did was manually editing the TMDL...anyway, probably nothing to be concerned about, maybe I should have posted this only if I ran into it more than once. I will definitely keeps my eyes open for the next few sessions to see if it would re-occur |
