v1.7 — multi-channel + hosts blocker + Search & Startup + adblock fix
Highlights
- Multi-channel target dropdown — apply policies to Stable, Beta, Nightly, Dev, or all installed channels at once.
- Hosts file telemetry blocklist tab — DNS-level kill switch for Brave telemetry endpoints. Sentinel-tagged for surgical revert. Auto-backs up
hostsbefore any write. Has its own Apply button so the main "Apply to Brave" never touches your hosts file by accident. - Search & Startup tab — three opt-in overrides: default search engine (11 engines + custom), new tab page, startup behavior. Each gated by its own checkbox. Run last in apply order so they cleanly win over Performance-tab values.
- Export / Import config — round-trip your tuned setup to JSON. Share community presets, restore on a new machine.
- Verify button — per-channel registry vs UI diff report. Confirms your selections actually landed.
- Bug fix: ad blocking now enforced in Origin Mode and Privacy + Boost — earlier preset list omitted Shields policies, leaving ad blocking at Brave's default. Blocking ads is a perf win, belongs in the boost preset.
- Extensions section — opt-in buttons that open install pages in Brave (uBlock Origin Lite, Bitwarden, Brave Shields settings). No force-install — no "Managed by your organization" banner.
- README revamp — Quick Start at top with explicit "double-click the .bat, NOT the .ps1" warning. Screenshot at top. Changelog collapsed.
- Repo cleanup — PNG screenshots moved to
images/subfolder.
