Talkdedsec Visual 0.2.0

@github-actions github-actions released this 06 Oct 04:30

The effect now holds on, and you choose which displays get it.

In this release

  • The ramp is checked once a second and written again when a game entering exclusive fullscreen, a panel waking from sleep or a resolution change resets it. If another program keeps rewriting it, the engine steps aside on that display and says so; changing any setting takes it back.
  • Display selection in settings, by the name in each panel's EDID. A display you leave out gets its original ramp back and is not touched again, and the choice survives a reboot. Displays plugged in while the program runs are picked up within a second.
  • The transfer curve is drawn, with live figures for the strength Windows let through and the displays in use.
  • Only one copy runs; starting it again brings the open window forward.
  • Mouse wheel and double-click-to-neutral on the sliders, two-click profile delete, the active profile highlighted, Esc closes settings, and a screen reader name and role for every control.

Fixed

  • A ramp left on screen by a run that died was taken for the original at the next start. It is now recognised and cleared.
  • A config.json saved with a byte order mark (Notepad, PowerShell 5) was read as empty and the next save replaced every profile. An unreadable config is now also kept aside as config.json.unreadable.
  • The brightness and contrast sliders ran past the range the engine accepts, so the knob snapped back from both ends.
  • More than three or four profiles pushed the status bar and the import and export buttons off screen. The profile list now scrolls.
  • The layout overflowed at the minimum window height.

Talkdedsec Visual 0.1.0

@Talkdedsec Talkdedsec released this 13 Aug 12:23

Real-time screen colour engine for Windows. Five sliders — brightness, contrast, gamma, temperature and night vision — are compiled into a gamma ramp and written straight to the display adapter, so everything the panel shows goes through it: games, video, the desktop.

No game files are touched, nothing is injected into any process, no driver is installed and no administrator rights are needed.

In this release

  • Five controls with a live before/after preview and hold-to-compare
  • Six built-in presets, thumbnails rendered through each preset's real curve
  • Named profiles with JSON import and export
  • Configurable global hotkey (F6–F12), system tray, run at startup
  • Automatic backoff when Windows clamps the ramp, with the accepted strength shown in the status bar
  • Original ramp of every display stored at startup and restored on exit

Known limits

Saturation and hue are not possible on a gamma ramp. HDR displays ignore ramps on most drivers. Exclusive fullscreen hands the pipeline to the game — borderless windowed is the reliable mode.
