First public release of OpenPS2BIOS, an experimental replacement PlayStation 2 BIOS for emulators. It contains no Sony firmware.

Warning

For emulator use only. Do not flash or install this BIOS on a real PS2. It does not initialise the console's memory controller or other hardware that emulators set up on their own, so it will not boot on real hardware.

Download

  • OpenPS2BIOS-0.1.bin: the 4 MiB ROM image. Select it as the BIOS in your emulator.
  • OpenPS2BIOS-0.1.bin.sha256: its SHA-256 checksum.

Status

The games in the compatibility table reach their main menus in PCSX2. Controller input, audio and saving have not been confirmed. See Known limitations in the README for what is not supported yet.
