Clerk Basic example does not work when deployed to netlify

Describe the bug

When I click the Deploy to Netlify button here, it spins up an app on Netlify with a page not found error.

No changes were made to the example.

Steps to Reproduce the Bug or Issue

1. Go to the link
2. Click Deploy to Netlify
3. Click through the steps to create the project on Netlify as prompted
4. Click on production URL

I expected to see a working example.

Same thing

I added netlify plugin to vite config, specified generated folder (.netlify/v1/functions), but has this error:

I was also trying to deploy a different app and ran into the above as I tried to implement the recommendations from the docs.
As a result, I figured I'd try the basic example first to get something working, and that failed too as noted in this issue.

the clerk basic example does not work in development mode either.

trying to create a minimal reproduction for a bug we're facing with clerk/tanstack but this makes that harder.
