Once you have checkout-dev, checkout-staging and checkout-prod sitting between a dozen other servers, the server list stops being a list you can read at a glance. This release lets profiles live in groups and shows them as a tree you can fold. If you liked the flat list, it's still there.

Connection groups

Give a profile a group in the new Group (optional) field, or straight in connections.json:

{ "name": "checkout-prod", "url": "rediss://...", "group": "checkout" }

Each group becomes a folder with a member count, sorted by name without caring about case. Its profiles are indented underneath, and anything without a group stays at the bottom, the way loose keys sit after folders in the key tree. The keys work like the key tree too:

  • space, enter, l or → on a header folds or unfolds it
  • h or ← folds it, and on a profile jumps up to its header
  • enter on a profile still connects

rediscope remembers which groups you folded, so they stay that way next time.

Or keep it flat

v switches between the tree and the flat list and keeps the same profile selected. The choice is saved. If none of your profiles have a group, nothing looks different: the grouped view of an ungrouped list is the list you had.

Your existing connections.json loads and saves back byte for byte. The new settings are only written once they differ from the defaults. And if a later version ever writes a view this one doesn't know, it opens grouped rather than refusing the whole file.

Groups everywhere else

  • / matches group names as well as profile names, and opens folded groups while the filter is on. Esc puts them back.
  • n fills in the group of the row you're on.
  • J and K reorder profiles inside their group.
  • The Ctrl+P palette lists grouped servers as group › name and can switch the view.
  • --profile and headless mode still find profiles by name, so scripts don't need to know about groups.

Also

  • The footer used to run off the edge on a 120-column terminal and take ? help and q quit with it. Those two are pinned to the right now, and other hints drop out whole when there isn't room.
  • The server list screenshot on the landing page and in the README shows groups.
