This new major release introduces Valkey for session storage and replaced the previous in-memory and relational database-backed options.

New

  • Valkey for session storage
    • Data protection certificate added (mandatory)
  • Support for Blazor WASM standalone clients (and by extension other standalone SPA frameworks)
    • BFF endpoints now return 401 instead of always forwarding to OIDC login
  • Hook into events to keep local and remote Keycloak sessions in sync
    • Sliding expiration window now tied through OidcEvents
  • Always map HttpForwarder() for BFF pattern
    • If Program.cs is already calling it, doing so won't be necessary anymore if AddKeycloakAuthentication is used
  • UseKeycloakAuthentication returns IEndpointConventionBuilder to allow for host filtering
