CommitDesk v1.1.0-rc.1

Pre-release

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 15 Oct 20:38

✨ Features and improvements

  • Copy text from a diff, as in GitHub Desktop: press on the text and drag to highlight lines, then right-click › Copy or press Ctrl+C. Right-click › Select all highlights the whole file. The copied lines leave out the +/- markers.
  • Right-click the file name above a diff to copy its path, relative path or file name.
  • Android (preview): a phone layout. The toolbar fits the screen, a ⋮ button has the menu bar's actions, lists and diffs take the whole screen one at a time (tap a file or commit to open it; Back returns), and long-pressing a file or commit shows its actions. Tablets in landscape keep the desktop layout.
  • Android (preview): git works without a git command line, through the built-in libgit2: changes and diffs, committing whole files, history, branches (create, switch, rename, delete), stash, fetch, pull and push, merging (also squash), rebasing, the conflicts dialog, revert, cherry-pick, reset, tags, checking out merge/pull requests and copying patches, with the same sign-in, "don't check this server" certificate list and error prompts as on desktop. Committing selected lines and submodules come next; until then they say they aren't available on this device.

🐞 Bug fixes

CommitDesk v1.0.0

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 15 Oct 03:06

✨ Features and improvements

  • GitLab Desktop is now CommitDesk, with a new logo. The app isn't made by GitLab, and GitLab's trademark guidelines don't allow its name in other products' names. Installing or updating replaces GitLab Desktop and keeps your settings and saved sign-ins (on macOS, sign in again once). GitHub's "Open with GitHub Desktop" links and old gitlab-desktop: links still open in it.
  • Branch › View pull request (merge request on GitLab) is greyed out when the branch has none, and after a request is merged or closed it opens that one, named in the menu (for example "View pull request #12 (merged)"). Copy link to pull request does the same.
  • The Google Play build has no in-app updater (Play delivers its updates); the Android APK on the releases keeps it.
  • Android (preview): cloning works, with a built-in libgit2 instead of the git command line phones don't have. Other repository operations on Android come next.

🐞 Bug fixes

  • Rename commitdesk (!21) (@acalcutt)
  • Branch › View pull request offered to create a new one after the branch's request had been merged, instead of opening it.

@github-actions github-actions released this 07 Oct 12:58

✨ Features and improvements

  • Open GitHub's "Open with GitHub Desktop" links (Windows): Options › Links from GitHub can make GitLab Desktop the app for them, through Windows Settings so it never takes them over without your say. A link opens its repository if you have it (switching to its branch) or the clone dialog with the URL filled in.
  • Only one copy of the app runs: launching it again, from a link or with GitLabDesktop.exe <folder>, brings the open window forward and opens it there.

🐞 Bug fixes

  • In History, the first file of a commit sometimes showed no diff (until another file was picked and then it again), when the previous commit's selected file had the same name and kind of change.

✨ Features and improvements

🐞 Bug fixes

  • View pull request / merge request opened the list of all requests when there was no GitLab or GitHub account for the server. For a public github.com project it now finds the branch's request without an account; a request from a fork is found too (by the branch's latest commit), also for the toolbar's #12 badge; and when none can be found it opens the requests from that branch rather than all of them. The Pull/Merge requests tab now lists up to 300 open requests instead of 100.

✨ Features and improvements

  • Right-click a file in a commit in History, like GitHub Desktop: show or open it, copy its diff in that commit or its path, or view the file as it was in that commit on GitLab/GitHub.

GitLab Desktop v0.4.7

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 06 Oct 17:27

✨ Features and improvements

  • Right-click the repository or branch in the toolbar, like GitHub Desktop: copy the repository name, path or remote URL, or the branch name, its link or its merge/pull request link, plus quick access to rename, delete, view on GitLab/GitHub and open elsewhere.
  • Copy diffs for AI assistants and issues: Copy diff on a changed file, Copy all changes as patch on the changes header, and Copy commit as patch in History copy plain unified diffs (new files included; commits with their message). The status bar confirms what was copied.

🐞 Bug fixes

  • 0.4.6's cleanup of broken submodule leftovers could mistake folders inside real submodule repositories (such as objects/pack or hooks) for leftovers and try to delete them, failing with "Access to the path 'pack-….idx' is denied". It now only ever removes a submodule folder that has no repository in it, and never looks inside a real one.

✨ Features and improvements

🐞 Bug fixes

  • A repository where a submodule checkout had failed could stay broken, with every refresh failing with "fatal: not a git repository: …/.git/modules/…". The app now finds and removes the empty leftovers such a failure leaves (any submodule, not just ones the current branch lists) when reading the status and before switching, pulling or merging.
