TranslaMic 0.1.6
First public TranslaMic MVP release for macOS 26+ on Apple Silicon.
Highlights
- Translates microphone or selected-app speech and sends synthesized target-language audio to TranslaMic Virtual Microphone.
- Adds target-language selection, macOS human-voice filtering, voice deduplication, and direct speaker preview.
- Includes bilingual subtitles, floating captions, glossary support, and session transcripts.
- Adds an optional local Qwen3-TTS 0.6B engine with nine human voices.
- Provides a bilingual README and a new TranslaMic app icon.
Qwen3-TTS latency notice
Qwen output uses complete-sentence generation (stream=False) because streamed output was not intelligible enough for practical use. Complete-sentence generation currently has high latency and is not recommended for live meetings. The macOS system voice is the recommended real-time option. Other open-source models, quantized models, and lower-latency speech-generation approaches are being evaluated.
Installation
- Download
translamic-0.1.6.pkg. - Install the package. It installs the app and Core Audio virtual microphone driver.
- Restart macOS so Core Audio loads the driver.
- In your meeting app, select TranslaMic Virtual Microphone as the microphone.
