TranslaMic 0.1.6

First public TranslaMic MVP release for macOS 26+ on Apple Silicon.

Highlights

  • Translates microphone or selected-app speech and sends synthesized target-language audio to TranslaMic Virtual Microphone.
  • Adds target-language selection, macOS human-voice filtering, voice deduplication, and direct speaker preview.
  • Includes bilingual subtitles, floating captions, glossary support, and session transcripts.
  • Adds an optional local Qwen3-TTS 0.6B engine with nine human voices.
  • Provides a bilingual README and a new TranslaMic app icon.

Qwen3-TTS latency notice

Qwen output uses complete-sentence generation (stream=False) because streamed output was not intelligible enough for practical use. Complete-sentence generation currently has high latency and is not recommended for live meetings. The macOS system voice is the recommended real-time option. Other open-source models, quantized models, and lower-latency speech-generation approaches are being evaluated.

Installation

  1. Download translamic-0.1.6.pkg.
  2. Install the package. It installs the app and Core Audio virtual microphone driver.
  3. Restart macOS so Core Audio loads the driver.
  4. In your meeting app, select TranslaMic Virtual Microphone as the microphone.

Important

This development package is intentionally not signed with Developer ID and not notarized. The payload uses ad-hoc signatures. Install it only if you trust this repository and release source.
