TechRefreshing Linux 1.0
The first stable release of TechRefreshing Linux is now available.
TechRefreshing Linux is a beginner-friendly Debian 13-based desktop distribution featuring KDE Plasma 6, a polished macOS-inspired interface, a graphical installer, and useful applications ready for everyday work.

System requirements
- 64-bit Intel or AMD processor
- 4 GB RAM minimum; 8 GB recommended
- 25 GB available storage minimum
- 1024 × 768 display or higher
- 4 GB or larger USB drive
- Internet connection recommended
Installation
- Download the ISO and checksum file.
- Verify the ISO checksum.
- Write the ISO to a USB drive using Rufus, Ventoy, Etcher or a similar application.
- Boot the computer from the USB drive.
- Test the live environment if desired.
- Open Install TechRefreshing Linux and follow the instructions.
Back up important files before installation. Selecting or formatting the wrong disk or partition can result in permanent data loss.
Dual-boot information
When installing alongside Windows:
- Back up Windows and save the BitLocker recovery key, if applicable.
- Disable Windows Fast Startup before installation.
- Boot Windows and the installer using the same firmware mode, preferably UEFI.
- Confirm all partitions carefully before applying installation changes.
If Windows does not appear in the boot menu after installation, start TechRefreshing Linux and run:
sudo update-grubVerification
Compare the SHA-256 value of the downloaded ISO with the value supplied in tr-linux-1.0-amd64.iso.sha256.
Windows PowerShell:
Get-FileHash .\tr-linux-1.0-amd64.iso -Algorithm SHA256Linux:
sha256sum tr-linux-1.0-amd64.isoDo not install from an incomplete or mismatched download.
