RealWorldMC v1.0.2
RealWorldMC 1.0.2
Downloads and setup: realworldmc.com
New
- On Minecraft 1.21.1,
/earth flyenables flight without an elytra. Steve glides while moving and returns upright when slowing down. Creative singleplayer only. - Use WASD to move, arrow keys to adjust speed, and Space/Shift to rise or descend. Normal rockets provide a boost.
/earth hudshows or hides RW controls, messages and loading bars. Addonoroffto set it explicitly.- Experimental Minecraft 26.3 build.
Fixed
- Node.js detection on macOS and Linux, including Homebrew and NVM installations.
- Flight getting stuck with Axiom and reversed left/right movement.
- Abrupt speed changes between local flight and orbit.
- Landing handoffs getting stuck and loading progress disappearing too early.
- Player visibility across chunks and depth conflicts that can cause Earth texture flicker.
- Terrain selection now looks ahead based on flight velocity while retaining current coverage.
- Service startup checks, browser preview paths and retries for failed tile requests.
/rw remains an alias for /earth. The redundant /earth glide command has been removed.
Download
- 1.21.1: recommended, Java 21. Includes native Street View, key setup and experimental orbital flight.
- 26.2 / 26.3: experimental, Java 25. Includes terrain and browser Street View; no native setup screen, panorama or orbital flight yet.
Use the JAR in an existing Fabric profile, or import the matching .mrpack into Modrinth App or Prism. Back up your worlds and remove the previous RealWorldMC JAR before updating. Your saved keys remain in place.
Windows x64 includes Node.js. macOS and Linux need Node.js 22 or newer. Map features require internet access and your own provider credentials.
Shader compatibility still needs broader testing, including the known Bliss issue when returning from orbit. Propwash FPV compatibility on 26.3 is experimental and the mod is not bundled.
Thanks to deloskiytbackup for the Node.js discovery contribution in PR #2.
RealWorldMC v1.0.1
RealWorldMC 1.0.1: Earth to orbit
Fly from real places into Earth orbit, then take a look around the Moon and Mars. This update adds experimental space flight to Minecraft Java 1.21.1 with Fabric.
New in 1.0.1
- Fly into space. In a Creative, singleplayer Real World world, climb above the default 2 km entry height or use
/earth space. Hold Space to rise, Shift to descend and WASD to travel. No elytra is needed, and speed increases as you climb. - Come back down. Descending below the default 1.6 km exit height loads the place beneath you and resumes normal Creative flight.
/earth space returnreturns to your original launch point. - Visit the Moon and Mars. Use
/earth moon,/earth marsand/earth earth, or hold forward while aiming at a destination marker above 100 km. The planetary images are bundled and need no extra imagery API key. - Record steadier shots. Globe motion is smoother, loaded scenery stays visible during tile changes and the third-person player stays visible and lit. Flight poses follow your movement without changing your equipment.
- Keep Earth objects out of orbit. Local blocks, mobs and particles are hidden while orbiting. You cannot accidentally target hidden Earth objects, and your launch world is preserved.
- Read controls more easily. Short hints now sit above the bottom-left credits.
/earth actionbartoggles them. Street View arrows and browser navigation buttons are larger. - Handle loading interruptions better. OSM water generation has a setup toggle, a request timeout and a cooldown after failure. Bundled services use fallback ports if their usual ports are occupied.
Update and try it
Back up your worlds and close Minecraft. Replace the old RealWorldMC JAR with RealWorldMC-1.0.1-mc1.21.1.jar, keeping only one copy installed. Existing keys and settings stay in place. Use Fabric, Fabric API and Java 21.
Start with /earth space in a Creative, singleplayer Real World world. Use the normal camera toggle for third person. Try /earth moon or /earth mars, then /earth space return to go home.
Limits to know
- Space flight is experimental. Earth descent can pause for map loading and still depends on provider coverage, credentials and usage limits.
- Moon and Mars are orbital image flyovers. You cannot land, walk, mine or build on their surfaces yet.
- The 26.2 module remains experimental and does not include native space flight or in-game Street View.
- Bliss produced a blank Earth return view in an offline test with both the previous and current JAR. This remains unresolved; shader compatibility is not guaranteed.
- Optional camera, cape, aircraft and superhero mods from the recording profile are separate add-ons, not bundled RealWorldMC features.
See realworldmc.com for installation, the space guide for controls and accounts and costs before using map APIs.
RealWorldMC v1.0.0
Fly over real cities and mountains, explore Street View, and build around real places in Minecraft Java.
What you get
- Real-world 3D scenery to explore on foot or with an elytra.
- In-game Street View on 1.21.1, with photo navigation, nearby walking, blocks, mobs and saved edits.
- A starting point picked from 100 locations, including the Palace of Parliament in Bucharest.
- A setup screen for your map keys. Use
/earth setupto reopen it on 1.21.1. - Automatic local map services on Windows x64. No separate Node.js installation or batch files needed.
Choose your download
Start with Minecraft 1.21.1.
- Already use Fabric? Download the 1.21.1
.jarand put it in your mods folder. You also need Fabric API for 1.21.1 and Java 21. - Want a ready-made profile? Import the 1.21.1
.mrpackinto Modrinth App or Prism Launcher.
26.2 is experimental. It needs Java 25 and matching Fabric dependencies. Keys are configured manually, and Street View opens in a browser instead of inside Minecraft.
Start exploring
- Launch the mod and enter your own map keys in the setup screen.
- Create a Creative world with commands enabled. Choose the Real World world type.
- Run
/earth help. Use/earth gototo travel,/earth streetviewto enter a nearby photo, and/earth backto return.
Good to know
Internet access and your own provider credentials are required. Google or Cesium account limits apply, and usage can cost money. Read accounts and costs before setup.
Coverage and loading speed vary. Street View photos do not provide accurate building depth or interiors, so collision and third-person views are approximations. Back up existing worlds before updating.
