ESP CodexGauge v0.8.3 is the first public maker release of the standalone ESP8266 OLED quota gauge.

Highlights

  • Displays remaining five-hour and weekly ChatGPT Work / Codex usage windows.
  • Uses the direct device-login flow; no API key, server, proxy, or browser automation is required after setup.
  • Stores the rotated refresh token and account ID in LittleFS for reuse after reboot.
  • Shows reset times for empty quotas and performs a reset-aware refresh 30 seconds after a known reset.
  • Keeps the last valid value visible during temporary failures and marks stale data instead of showing a misleading 0%.
  • Supports SSD1306 128x32 OLED modules at I²C address 0x3C or 0x3D, with Serial-only fallback.
  • Includes complete maker documentation for wiring, authentication, troubleshooting, contributing, and security.
  • Includes a GitHub Actions compile check for esp8266:esp8266:d1_mini.

Build target

  • Board: LOLIN(WEMOS) D1 R2 & mini
  • FQBN: esp8266:esp8266:d1_mini
  • ESP8266 Arduino Core: 3.1.2
  • Serial Monitor: 115200 baud
