English

v1.0.69 adds a Bluetooth page turner to the X4 Classic. Noto Serif moves to the card, font downloads move from Reader to Connections, X3 and X4 Classic get the X4 Pro Settings layout, and the release updates text layout, line breaks, chapter cache and the X3 web server.

Before you update

• X3/X4 firmware: tenor-cross-v1.0.69-x3-x4.bin, 5,498,240 bytes, SHA-256 ad10fa117980269bcec246c44e36e7d2aa9352485b2e389a2f0c5bba116669d9. Use the SD card or USB at offset 0x10000.
• X3/X4 factory firmware: tenor-cross-v1.0.69-x3-x4-factory.bin, 5,563,776 bytes, SHA-256 d8db58822663dd4d37edc1cda7f28d1f4e7dc834da1dbc87356d796f9c1132b0. Use it for a fresh USB install at offset 0x0.
• X4 Classic firmware: tenor-cross-v1.0.69-x4c.bin, 5,732,464 bytes, SHA-256 af412ae7d10a546d911a1b960de8f37263f925175b76fed3db4127a3dba7d309. Only for the X4 Classic (ESP32-S3). Update over the air from Settings, or install by cable. Do not install it on an X3, X4 or X4 Pro.
• X4 Pro firmware: tenor-cross-v1.0.69-x4pro.bin, 5,783,232 bytes, SHA-256 b416da71fa6c1843f1d76c75902489c65886f7979e533a87497a6b7417d6c7c0. Copy it to the root of the card as firmware.bin and update from the device menu, or flash it by cable with tools/nap.py on a device running v1.0.59 or later. An X4 Pro on v1.0.56 to v1.0.68 updates to this release over the air, from Settings > About & updates > Find updates. Use it on the X4 Pro only.
• The 7 font packages are unchanged from v1.0.61 and still download from the same place.
• Keep the v1.0.68 files in case you need to go back, and check the SHA-256 before flashing.
• X4 Classic was tested for boot, scanning for a page turner and turning the radio off while reading and while sending files. Tests on an actual X4 Classic also passed for pairing a real Bluetooth page turner, turning pages and automatic reconnection after a device restart.
• Every book rebuilds its chapter buffer once when it opens. The chapter cache format is now 58, so the first opening of each book takes longer.

Bluetooth page turner

• The X4 Classic has a Bluetooth page turner in Settings. If no turner is paired, the radio turns off while reading.

Fonts

• Noto Serif is no longer built into the device. The device is about 0.9 MB smaller. Noto Sans is the only font built into the device.
• If the device was using the Noto Serif font that came with it, it switches to Noto Serif on the card when it is available. If it is not there, it switches to Noto Sans and shows a notice once in the book. Get Noto Serif from Connections > Get Fonts.
• Home excerpts, Quotes and the quote sleep screen use Noto Sans.
• The Weight line shows the level the device really uses when a font lacks the selected level. TTF weights on X4 Pro and X4 Classic use the new table, with clearer steps. Font packages from the store use the new table after the store is rebuilt in v1.0.70. Old packages still install.
• On X3, the web server Fonts page converts TTF files into X3 fonts at sizes 12 to 24 and the selected weight levels. The defaults are 0, +1, +2 and +3. The page asks before sending and shows the file count and size.
• X4 Pro and X4 Classic ask before replacing an existing .cpfont family with TTF.

Connections and Settings

• File Transfer is now Connections. This screen combines sending books over WiFi, Calibre, hotspot, USB drive and WebDAV. USB drive and WebDAV are available on X4 Pro and X4 Classic. Get Fonts leaves Reader and is now in Connections.
• X3 and X4 Classic use the same Settings item names and order as X4 Pro, including About & updates. Rows are evenly spaced, with no group headings or extra gaps between groups. Devices with a saved custom order keep it.
• Lists in Connections and some other screens on X3 and X4 Classic start at the top of the screen.

Reader and X3 web server

• German hyphenation is back on X4 Pro.
• Line breaks can follow a hyphen or dash between letters. This follows CrossPoint crosspoint-reader#3883.
• The X3 web server no longer stalls when 2 browser tabs open at the same time. Downloads from the device to the browser are slower, about 300 KB/s instead of about 500 KB/s.
• The device keeps the selected card font when it boots before the card has been read. Font downloads from Connections on X3 leave about 51 KB of contiguous memory instead of about 20 KB.

Known limits

• A .cpfont font without all weight levels, such as the old Bookerly, has only its existing levels. Send the TTF again from the Fonts page to get all levels.
• With black and white text and smoothing off, some neighboring weight levels differ by only about 4.4 to 4.9% black pixels.
• An X3 with its own saved Settings order keeps that order instead of the X4 Pro layout.

• X3 chuyển TTF trên trang Font của máy chủ web thành font X3 ở cỡ 12 tới 24 và các mức đã chọn. Mặc định là 0, +1, +2, +3. Trang hỏi trước khi gửi và cho biết số tệp cùng dung lượng.

Kết nối và Cài đặt

Trình đọc và máy chủ web

• X4 Pro có lại tách từ tiếng Đức.
• Máy cho phép ngắt dòng sau dấu gạch nối hoặc gạch dài nằm giữa 2 chữ cái. Thay đổi này theo CrossPoint crosspoint-reader#3883.
• X3 không còn treo máy chủ web khi mở 2 thẻ trình duyệt cùng lúc. Tải tệp từ máy về trình duyệt chậm hơn, khoảng 300 KB/s thay vì khoảng 500 KB/s.
• Máy giữ font trên thẻ đã chọn khi khởi động trước lúc đọc xong thẻ nhớ. Tải font từ Kết nối trên X3 có khối nhớ liền khoảng 51 KB thay vì khoảng 20 KB.

Còn vướng

• Font .cpfont không có đủ mức độ đậm, như Bookerly cũ, chỉ có mức đang có. Gửi lại TTF ở trang Font để có đủ mức.
• Với chữ đen trắng khi tắt làm mịn, vài cặp mức độ đậm kề nhau chỉ khác khoảng 4,4 tới 4,9% điểm đen.
• Máy X3 đã tự xếp thứ tự Cài đặt riêng sẽ giữ thứ tự đó thay vì bố cục X4 Pro.
