xrevive v0.1.11

@Teraflopping Teraflopping released this 15 Oct 15:13

xrevive v0.1.11 finishes moving XB Online saves back into each game's usual save folder.

  • Saves from the separate XB Online folder now move reliably. On many PCs, antivirus or Windows Search briefly holds folders, so v0.1.9 and v0.1.10 could not rename the old XBL-Hosted folder and left its saves unmoved (v0.1.10 still let the game start). xrevive no longer renames it: it copies what's missing into the usual save folder when you press Play, retrying for a moment if a folder is briefly held, then leaves a MOVED-TO-SAVE-FOLDER.txt note in XBL-Hosted. Existing saves are never replaced, and nothing is deleted.
  • Once you've checked your saves, you can delete the SaveData\XBL-Hosted folder yourself.

Downloads: use the Windows x64 setup EXE or the Linux AppImage. The .sig files and latest.json support automatic updates.

Hosted game executables are Windows x64 builds. On Linux they can run through Wine or Proton (experimental). Supply your own game assets; game ISOs and assets are not included.

The Windows launcher and installer are Authenticode-signed. Launcher updates are signed with the xrevive update key.

xrevive v0.1.10 makes sure moving XB Online saves can never stop a game from starting.

  • Play always starts. v0.1.9 moves saves from the separate XB Online folder back into the game's usual save folder. If a file there was still in use (for example by a game left running from before the update), Play and the Saves screen showed "Can't move the XB Online saves… Access is denied". Play now starts anyway and finishes the move on a later launch; the move never replaces a save that is already there.
  • The Saves screen only reads. Moving saves happens only when you press Play, never while a game might be running.

Downloads: use the Windows x64 setup EXE, the macOS DMG matching your processor, or the Linux AppImage/DEB. The .sig files and latest.json support automatic updates.

xrevive v0.1.9

@Teraflopping Teraflopping released this 15 Oct 02:45
b0f4113

xrevive v0.1.9 brings back game saves that went missing when a game started using XB Online.

  • Your saves are back. Games that play on XB Online (Midnight Club 3 since v1.0.2) were started with a separate, empty save folder for your account, so existing profiles and settings seemed to disappear. Every game now uses its one usual save folder, online or not. Nothing was deleted.
  • Saves made in the meantime are kept. Anything you saved while the separate folder was in use is copied into the usual save folder the next time you press Play, without replacing any save that is already there. The old folder is renamed XBL-Hosted.migrated and can be deleted once you've checked your saves.

Downloads: use the Windows x64 setup EXE, the macOS DMG matching your processor, or the Linux AppImage/DEB. The .sig files and latest.json support automatic updates.

xrevive v0.1.8 fixes Play on Linux and brings back online player counts.

  • Linux: Play starts games again. In the Linux AppImage, pressing Play did nothing, because Wine and Proton picked up settings from inside the AppImage and quit before the game started. Games now launch normally through Wine or Proton, including on Steam Deck.
  • Linux: Add games to Steam reopens Steam without those settings too.
  • Add games to Steam from the library. The button now sits under your installed games, as well as in Settings, so it's easy to find on Steam Deck.
  • Online counts are back. Every game showed Offline instead of its players and lobbies once xb.live started listing players who are in xrevive itself. Counts, lobbies and friends playing load again.

Downloads: use the Windows x64 setup EXE, the macOS DMG matching your processor, or the Linux AppImage/DEB. The .sig files and latest.json support automatic updates.

xrevive v0.1.7

@Teraflopping Teraflopping released this 14 Oct 17:41
b0f4113

xrevive v0.1.7 brings your games to Steam, installs the Windows components games need for you, and makes Add Game easier to find.

  • Add to Steam. In Settings, Add games to Steam gives each installed game its own entry in your Steam library, with its cover and banner art.
    • Steam closes and reopens while the games are added. Your other non-Steam games are kept, and Steam's list is backed up first.
    • Running it again updates the existing entries instead of adding duplicates.
  • Launch games from Steam. A game started from Steam gets the Steam overlay, your Steam Input controller layout and Steam playtime, and xrevive closes when the game does.
    • To add one game by hand, right-click it, choose Manage → Copy Steam launch options, add xrevive to Steam as a non-Steam game, and paste them into its Launch Options.
    • If xrevive is already open when you start a game from Steam, Steam still counts your playtime, but the overlay doesn't appear in the game.
  • Steam Deck controllers. On a Steam Deck, games now read the controller through Steam Input, to fix pads that didn't respond or cut out.
  • Missing Windows components are installed for you.
    • If the Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime is missing, xrevive installs it the first time it starts, with a small animation while it works, instead of showing an error.
    • Before a game starts, xrevive checks the Microsoft Visual C++ runtime. If it's missing or too old, xrevive downloads Microsoft's signed installer and installs it. Windows asks for administrator approval.
  • Beta-only games on Release. A game that only has a Beta build can now be installed while you're on the Release channel, once you confirm you understand it's a beta. Your channel stays on Release.
  • Clearer installs. Installing a game names each step and which one failed. When Windows blocks a write, xrevive shows the folder and points to Controlled folder access.
  • Add Game is now a green button in the bottom bar, so it's always on screen. Discord moved to a new Socials card in Settings.
  • Launcher updates are checked every 10 minutes and whenever you switch back to xrevive, instead of every 6 hours.
  • xb.live: while you're signed in, friends see you online in xrevive even when you're not playing.

Downloads: use the Windows x64 setup EXE, the macOS DMG matching your processor, or the Linux AppImage/DEB. The .sig files and latest.json support automatic updates.

The macOS downloads will be added here shortly.

Hosted game executables are Windows x64 builds. On Linux they can run through Wine or Proton (experimental). macOS packages can't play games yet. Supply your own game assets; game ISOs and assets are not included.

xrevive v0.1.6

@Teraflopping Teraflopping released this 14 Oct 06:06
b0f4113

xrevive v0.1.6 adds a save editor and PS2 save conversion for Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition, automatic crash reports, and five new languages.

  • Midnight Club 3 save editor. On the Saves tab, Edit on an MC3 save opens its profile.
    • Change your cash, profile name, multiplayer nickname, language, subtitles, volumes, and each player's camera, HUD and steering options.
    • See your garage and a career summary.
    • Your save is backed up as "Before edit" first, and re-signed so the game accepts it. Renaming a profile also moves it to the folder the game looks for.
  • Convert PS2 saves to Midnight Club 3 on Xbox. Convert PS2 save… turns a Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition Remix PS2 save into a new Xbox profile, with your garage, cars, cash, career, settings and race-editor routes.
    • Choose a PCSX2 memory card (found automatically in Documents\PCSX2\memcards), a PCSX2 folder card, a save folder or a single save file.
    • One of your Xbox profiles supplies the Xbox-only data, such as controller settings. It isn't changed, and neither is any other save.
  • Crash reports. When a game crashes, its log is kept and sent to the developer so problems get fixed sooner. A note after the crash lets you open the log. You can turn sending off in Settings.
  • New languages: Russian, Simplified Chinese, Japanese, German and French, including the tray menu.
  • System check: xrevive warns when a PC is older than Windows 8.1 or lacks a Direct3D 11 GPU. You can still choose Play anyway.
  • Windows Firewall asks only once per game. Each game now runs from the same path every time.
  • xb.live: your friends can see what you're playing while a game runs.
  • Update buttons for the launcher and for games now pulse more visibly when an update is ready.
  • Android: the Saves tab explains that saves live on the PC that plays the game.

Downloads: use the Windows x64 setup EXE, the macOS DMG matching your processor, or the Linux AppImage/DEB. The .sig files and latest.json support automatic updates.

Hosted game executables are Windows x64 builds. On Linux they can run through Wine or Proton (experimental). macOS packages can't play games yet. Supply your own game assets; game ISOs and assets are not included.

Launcher updates are signed with the xrevive update key. Windows installers are not Authenticode-signed, and macOS packages are not notarized, so first-install security prompts may appear.

xrevive v0.1.5

@Teraflopping Teraflopping released this 13 Oct 22:34
b0f4113

xrevive v0.1.5 brings XB Online play with your xb.live account, starting with Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition, plus a new Saves tab for backing up and importing your saves.

  • Link this PC to your xb.live account. Scan the QR code or open xb.live, sign in, and approve. Your password and any 2FA stay on the website.
  • Play online. Games built for XB Online, starting with Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition, launch signed in to your xb.live account. Each account keeps its own online saves.
  • Saves tab.
    • See each game's saves and back them up to Documents\xrevive\save-backups, outside the game folders, so uninstalling a game never removes them.
    • Freeze a backup to make it read-only and undeletable.
    • Restore a backup at any time. Your current saves are backed up first.
  • Import saves from xemu, an Xbox hard-disk image, a save folder or a ZIP. Imported saves are re-signed for this PC, offline or for the signed-in xb.live account, so the game accepts them. You get a preview before anything changes.
  • Addons: install and update a game's addon packs from its DLC tab.
  • Updates tab: see the published builds and release notes for each game.
  • Keep your existing setups. Add a game folder in the xrecomp layout, with its saves and mods, by copying, moving or using it where it is. Removing a game you added in place never deletes its folder.
  • Load mods (per game) runs the game from its folder so ReShade and other DLL mods load. Only turn it on for mods you trust.
  • Install launcher updates from the tray menu.
  • Linux (experimental): run the Windows game builds through Wine or Proton. xrevive finds installed versions and walks you through setup.
  • Narrow windows: the game list stacks, the friends list moves over the page, and cards use one column.

Supply your own game assets; game ISOs and assets are not included.

xrevive v0.1.4

@Teraflopping Teraflopping released this 13 Oct 03:37
6324961

xrevive v0.1.4 adds persistent sign-in and tray support alongside hosted game downloads and the updated library.

  • Stay signed in across restarts. Windows protects the saved session with DPAPI encryption, and xrevive checks restored sessions with xb.live.
  • Closing the window keeps xrevive running in the tray. Click its tray icon to reopen it, or use Quit xrevive in the tray menu to exit.
  • Add your own ISO or extracted game folder, keep its local assets, and download a matching executable from Release or Beta.
  • Check availability before installation. Unsupported games can still be extracted; incompatible XBE revisions show a warning with an option to try anyway.
  • Automatically check for game updates and launcher releases. A green Update button appears when a launcher update is available.
  • Browse Release, Beta, and Upcoming games in the sidebar, with corrected display names and clearer section headers.
  • Use game context menus for play, local files, and uninstall, plus faster background loading for online panels and clickable xb.live branding.

Downloads: use the Windows x64 setup EXE, the macOS DMG matching your processor, or the Linux AppImage/DEB. The .sig files and latest.json support automatic updates.

Hosted game executables currently support Windows x64. macOS/Linux launcher packages do not run those Windows game builds natively. Supply your own game assets; game ISOs and assets are not included.

Launcher updates are signed with the xrevive update key. Windows installers are not Authenticode-signed, and macOS packages are not notarized, so first-install security prompts may appear.
