An independently modernized build of Microsoft's dotnet/eShop reference app — a .NET Aspire microservices e-commerce platform — added one file at a time, each evaluated and upgraded against actual current-latest versions, not copied over wholesale.

This wiki is a set of short pointers, not a duplicate of the real documentation — each page states one thing worth knowing and links to the authoritative source (todo.md, docs/architecturedesign.md, the commit that did the work) rather than repeating it. For the full picture, start with README.md and todo.md in the main repo.

Status: early, but moving. src/Shared/, EventBus, EventBusRabbitMQ, eShop.ServiceDefaults, and IntegrationEventLogEF are added and reviewed — all four also have complete test coverage now, 83 tests total, see Testing. Identity.API is in progress; the other 15 of 21 planned projects don't exist on disk yet. See Architecture Overview for the full target shape this repo is being built toward.

Foundation

  • Architecture Overview — why this is microservices and not a monolith, the full 21-project target layout, what's real today
  • SDK and Build Config — global.json, Directory.Build.props, the preview-to-stable moves
  • Package Versions — ~50 central package pins, individually researched, not copied
  • CI and Tooling — what got excluded as Microsoft-internal, and the CI policy behind why every workflow is green today
  • Testing — MSTest on .NET's newer Microsoft.Testing.Platform runner, testing per-project as it's added rather than as one batch at the end

Projects

  • Shared — the two linked-source files, and why their "obvious" quirks are load-bearing
  • EventBus — done: all 8 source files added and reviewed
  • EventBusRabbitMQ — done: two real bugs found and fixed, split into a Decorator chain
  • eShop.ServiceDefaults — done: all 7 source files reviewed, several real fixes (a disabled JWT audience check, a hidden order-dependency, dead code)
  • IntegrationEventLogEF — done: all 7 source files reviewed, a silent event-type-collision bug found and fixed
  • Identity.API — in progress: Models/Configuration/Data and 5 of 6 Quickstart areas done, converted straight to a JSON API rather than added as Razor first
