SimpleLink Zephyr v3.7.0-9.20.00 EA Release

Texas Instruments Zephyr GitHub repository is the downstream fork of
Zephyr and is the starting point
for developers wanting to start developing Zephyr applications.

For those looking for latest content on CC35XX, please use SimpleLink Zephyr v3.7.0-9.22.01-CC33 Release instead.

The SimpleLink™ downstream Zephyr releases are intended as an additional demo
platform and eventually where the production grade TI SimpleLink™ Zephyr SDKs
will be hosted. The team is also working on upstreaming this content to
mainline Zephyr.

What's New

BLE

  • New BLE controller feature added:
    -PAwR ( Periodic Advertising with Responses )
    -PAST ( Periodic Advertising Sync Transfer )
  • New samples for ESL AP and ESL TAG have been added
  • BLE Support enabled for CC2340R5MODA and CC2340R53YBG
  • Improved Mesh LPN power performance through optimized wake-up timing

Drivers

  • RTC
    • Added unified RTC driver for CC23x0 and CC27xx.
    • Enabled Twister test cases for CC23x0 and CC27xx.
    • RTC driver now supports alarm functionality.

Bug Fixes

  • ibeacon sample hard fault if logs are enabled
  • CONFIG_BT_LOG_LEVEL_DBG causes a hard fault on peripheral sample
  • Need to call start/stop BLE advertising when changing the data during runtime
  • Extended Adv cannot be set to NON CONNECTABLE

Known Issues & Limitations

hal_ti

  • Assembly sections in the RCL produce build errors when compiling without optimizations.

System

  • For cc23xx boards, MCUBoot cannot be used with CONFIG_PM.
  • For all cc23xx and cc27xx boards, the systimer wraparound is handled incorrectly.
  • For all cc23xx boards, the ibeacon example hardfaults when logging is enabled.
  • For all cc23xx and cc27xx boards, idle power mode is prevented during peripheral operations.

Drivers:

  • Entropy driver health check is known to sometimes fail due to poor noise quality.
  • For all boards, ADC FIFO becomes out of sync after FIFO underflow.
  • Provide interim HAL support for the Comparator module along with an application space driver supporting APIs similar to Zephyr Comparator driver APIs.

BLE

  • Some examples do not build on the CC2340R52 platform due to flash RAM overflow.
  • FOTA not supported on CC2340R5 due to RAM limitations.

  • Enable twister on-device testing (limited) for:
    • lp_em_cc2340r5
    • lp_em_cc2745r10_q1/cc2745r10_q1
    • lp_em_cc2340r5moda
    • lp_em_cc2340r53_wcsp
