@github-actions github-actions released this 22 Oct 09:05

New since 01.000.080

Watching

  • The TV's own remote. With Settings > System > HDMI > Enable HDMI Device Link on (and the TV's CEC setting), the television's remote works in the menu and the player, beside the controller or instead of it. Arrows move, OK selects, Back goes back, Play / Pause plays or pauses, Rewind and Fast forward page through lists and step through a video, Channel − / + change the channel on live TV, and Menu opens the playback panel. Which keys reach the console is up to the television; arrows, OK and Back always do. The README has the full table.
  • Reaching the tabs. Up from the top of a screen, or Circle on Live TV, focuses the tab bar; Left and Right change the tab there, and Down, Cross or Circle go back in. Left of Home is a Search button, and Left from the search field reaches the results.
  • Cross pauses. During playback Cross pauses and resumes, as OK on a TV remote does; in the open channel list it still watches the channel. L2 now opens and closes the live channel list, and the phone remote has a Channel list button.

Sources

  • Films and shows counted. The Sources panel, the Settings tab and its At a glance panel show how many films and shows a source holds beside its channels, each on its own line in Sources. The channel figure counts live channels only, so a playlist's films and episodes no longer inflate it, and the header chip gives the total of all three. The counts refresh with the catalog and after an On Demand download finishes.

Fixes

  • A channel in every category it belongs to. Newer Xtream panels can file a live channel under several categories, and the app only read the first, so a category made up of such channels was missing from the list and from search. Every category the provider names now lists the channel, and a channel in any adult category is treated as an adult channel.

Maintenance

  • The interface kit, the OpenGL SDK and the owned-root helper are fetched from LedyBacer's copies of their original repositories, which are gone; the pinned commits and checksums are unchanged.

Validation notes

Host tests cover the TV remote reader and its key mapping, tab focus and the search button, Cross and L2 in the player, the film and show counts read from saved lists and playlists, and Xtream channels with several categories.

Thanks

Thank you to everyone who made this version:

  • ThatGuyKalvin (GitHub), for the TV remote, the tab bar and search controls, and the film and show counts.
  • Oliv3rmoon (GitHub), for listing a channel in every category its provider names.
  • Cold (GitHub), for the report of the missing category.
  • Everyone who tests ProsperoTV and reports what they find. The full list is in the README.

Installing by hand

  • PPSA99003.zip: extract it and upload the complete PPSA99003 folder to /data/homebrew, replacing the old one after closing the app. Keep your existing data under /data/prosperotv.
  • SHA256SUMS: the checksum of the download.
  • Coming from 01.000.015 or older: close ProsperoTV, delete PPSA99003.ffpfsc from /data/homebrew if you used the image, then upload the folder and restart ShadowMountPlus or the console.

Release files are built by this repository's GitHub Actions from the version tag on the release commit from main.

A new home

BlackBearReloaded, who created ProsperoTV and wrote most of it, has handed the project to ThatGuyKalvin. It now lives at https://github.com/ThatGuyKalvin/ProsperoTV; old links redirect. The About tab and the README say who made it, and no licence or copyright notice changes.

  • Updates in the app. The catalog the app checks moved from homebrew.page to prosperostore.net. This is the first version that asks the new address, so from here on in-app updates work again. A copy of 01.000.070 or older asks the old address, which now redirects, and never offers this release on its own: update it through ProsperoStore on the console, or install it by hand as below.
  • Checking a download. gh attestation verify PPSA99003.zip -R ThatGuyKalvin/ProsperoTV verifies the release files from this version on.

New since 01.000.070

Watching

  • Seeking stays in the video. A seek in a film, an episode or a replay moves within the open video instead of closing it and opening it again at the target. The network, the decoder and the presenter stay up, the tuning screen no longer appears, and the last picture stays on screen until the new one is ready. On a console the picture at the target arrives in about 1.5 to 3 s where it took about 8.6 s before, and the sound settles to within about a hundredth of a second of it.
  • HDR colours as they should be. HDR10 and HLG pictures showed blue as red. The colour shader packed red where the console's HDR scanout format expects blue; it now exports blue, green, red in every mode, the same way the SDR modes already did. 1080p and SDR pictures are unchanged.
  • A Stats line switch. Settings → Troubleshooting has a Stats line switch that keeps the codec and performance line on screen for the whole playback. Off, the line still shows for five seconds at the start and on Touchpad + R1.

On Demand

  • Carry on with a show. A show's episode list opens with a Continue row above its seasons: the episode started last, at the position it was left at, with the minutes watched beside it. A finished episode hands over to the next one. A hidden category, a hidden channel or a parental rule takes the row away, the same as on the home screen.
  • Film details that arrive. A film's details often said the provider gave no synopsis when it had one: a request made while the daily list update or the guide download was running was dropped. It now waits its turn and goes ahead of a pending list update, and the panel says "Loading title details" meanwhile. Playlists served by an Xtream server get details for their films too.
  • Long lists. A list of more than 100,000 titles used to be thrown away as too large, and one title with an oversized name failed the whole list. The app now holds up to 250,000 titles, keeps the first ones of a longer list and says so in the status line, and leaves out an entry it cannot read instead of the list.
  • A quicker menu. The On Demand menu counts its films and shows from a summary saved beside each list instead of reading both lists again, every saved list is read off the interface thread, and the list left for the other kind comes straight back. Opening Movies no longer freezes the interface, and returning to the menu is immediate.

Maintenance

  • The app's memory heap is 1 GiB (it was 512 MiB), so a provider's whole film list fits beside the interface while a refresh holds the old and the new one.
  • Diagnostic log lines for the on-demand loader: what a download is for, how each list ended, and the heap in use.
  • The update check asks prosperostore.net, the catalog's new address (see A new home).
  • The owned-root helper is fetched from a mirror of the fork it was pinned to; the pinned commit is unchanged.

Validation notes

Host tests cover the seek within an open video, the HDR shader's export order in every mode, the Stats line switch, the Continue row, the details queue, the long-list limits and the summary-based counts. On a console with system software 12.70, a build of this version was installed and run through its tabs; the seek, the long-list and the menu timings above were measured there.

Thanks

Thank you to everyone who made this version:

  • ThatGuyKalvin (GitHub), for seeking within the open video, the HDR colour fix, the Stats line switch, the Continue row, the long-list fixes and the quicker On Demand menu.
  • BlackBearReloaded (GitHub), for the film details fix and for ProsperoTV itself.
  • Bastian-R-dotcom (GitHub), for the 4K colour report and the film details report.

@github-actions github-actions released this 14 Oct 02:58

New since 01.000.060

Watching

  • A new playback menu. Options opens one Playback sheet at the side with Sound, Subtitles, Picture and Video. Each row opens a list with the value in use ticked; it replaces the five L1/R1 tabs.
  • Picture modes you can see. Each mode has a small preview of the shape it gives, and Fit names the video's own shape ("Fit · 16:9"), so a wrongly shaped stream is easy to correct. The bars around a reshaped picture stay black.
  • Sharper controls. The playback controls, the live channel list and the menu are drawn at the screen's resolution whatever the stream's, in the same look as the rest of the interface. The controls show the title with its state (Paused, Buffering, Live, Replay or the speed), the programme now and next, and a timeline.
  • The statistics line hides by itself. The codec, resolution and frame rate line disappears five seconds after the first picture. Touchpad + R1 shows it again for five seconds. It now also names the sound: its format, its channels, and whether the console's decoder or software plays it.
  • Pictures sooner. The first picture of a channel or a film, and the picture after every seek, appears about 0.4 s sooner.
  • Button shapes everywhere. The guide, the category and folder lists, On Demand, search, sharing, Sources and phone pairing show the PlayStation button shapes instead of writing the buttons out.

On Demand

  • Newest first. Each category, Browse all and an On Demand search list the provider's latest movies and shows first. Filter and sort (R3) also offers Title A-Z, Title Z-A, Newest year and Highest rating; a show's episodes stay in order.

Sound

  • DTS. Films and channels whose sound is DTS play it, in stereo or 5.1; a DTS-HD track plays its core. They used to be silent.
  • Tighter lip sync. Each picture is now timed by when it actually reaches the screen, measured on the console, and the sound clock follows the sound being played. Picture and sound stay within about a hundredth of a second.
  • Finer sound delay. Left and Right on Sound delay move it 10 ms at a time.

Fixes

  • No black second at launch. On consoles set to apply VRR to unsupported games, the screen went black for a second or two when the app opened and again when it closed.
  • Providers that send oversized data. One channel with a whole picture for a logo, or one show with a very long cast list, made the whole list fail ("provider returned malformed Xtream data", "The provider's on-demand list could not be downloaded"). Such an entry is now kept without the oversized part.

Maintenance

  • Built on ps5-opengl SDK 1.0.2 and the current interface kit.
  • The filesystem access helper is updated to the revision ProsperoEden and ProsperoStore use.

Validation notes

Host tests cover the playback menu, the channel list, the controls, the statistics line's timing, the provider data fixes, the On Demand order, DTS framing and the sound clock. On a console with system software 12.70, a build of this version launched without a video mode change, opened every tab, played a 4K film and a live channel for 150 seconds each with the controls and the menu used during playback, changed channel five times in ten seconds, and closed cleanly. With the lip sync changes, a 4K film and two live channels stayed within about -9 to +12 ms of their sound once playing.

Thanks

Thank you to everyone who made this version:

  • Kalvin (GitHub), for the new playback menu, channel list and controls, DTS sound, the tighter lip sync, the sound in the statistics line, faster first pictures, newest-first On Demand, the button shapes and the fix for oversized provider data.
  • Bastian-R-dotcom (GitHub), for the reports and requests behind newest-first On Demand and the Xtream fixes.

New since 01.000.050

Home and browsing

  • Home screen: return to what you were watching, your favorites, and programmes on your usual channels.
  • One search: find live channels, movies, TV shows, and guide programmes from the same search box.
  • Organize channels: rename, reorder, and hide individual channels and arrange favorites. Browse recently added and most-watched lists, and use provider channel numbers with the number pad.
  • Movie and show details: see provider posters, plots, cast, year, and ratings, with sorting and genre/year filters.
  • On-demand counts: Movies and TV shows display the number of available titles for the selected source. Empty lists show 0, are grayed out, and cannot open. Loading and failed requests are not mistaken for zero; show counts count shows, not episodes.

Watching

  • Continue watching: resume movies and episodes, and continue to the next episode when one finishes.
  • Playback controls: seek within supported on-demand videos, jump to chapters where available, change playback speed, and adjust sound delay.
  • Smoother seeking: the last picture stays visible while seeking or changing speed instead of switching to black. A buffering message appears until playback resumes. The HUD shows elapsed/total time and a progress bar, and a non-default speed such as 2x remains visible after the full controls hide.
  • Picture controls: preserve the video's aspect ratio by default; choose Fit, Stretch, forced 4:3 or 16:9, and zoom/fill. Adjust subtitle size and color.
  • Picture in picture: keep a channel playing in a corner while browsing.
  • USB recording and guide reminders: record live TV or schedule recordings and reminders from the guide. Keep the app running; recording uses an additional provider connection.
  • HLS quality selection: choose a rendition manually, or select Auto to reduce quality when compatible streams repeatedly buffer. Auto reduces quality only and requires usable rendition bitrates.

Sound

  • Optional 5.1 surround: Settings now offers Stereo (the default) or decoded 5.1 PCM for compatible HDMI equipment. AAC, AC-3, and E-AC-3 preserve six channels through playback speed, volume, and normalization, with stereo fallback when surround output fails. This is PCM output, not Dolby/DTS bitstream passthrough.
  • Louder, clearer stereo downmix: 5.1 sources no longer lose about 7.65 dB when mixed to stereo. A peak limiter controls clipping, and AC-3/E-AC-3 diagnostics now report their decoded channel count correctly.

Sources and provider compatibility

  • Mixed M3U/M3U Plus playlists: live channels stay in Live TV; recognized movies and episodes appear in On demand. Conventional episode names are grouped into shows, and stream request headers and alternate addresses are preserved.
  • More Xtream responses accepted: UTF-8 byte-order marks, nullable fields, escaped Unicode controls, and indexed season arrays are handled correctly.
  • Source request settings: edit the User-Agent, referrer, and custom HTTP headers. Choose app-default, Smarters, VLC, or custom User-Agent presets without typing a full value.
  • USB playlists: import a playlist from a USB drive.
  • Custom programme guides: set an XMLTV address and map its entries to your channels.
  • Xtream account information: view expiry and connection limits, with an expiry notice.
  • Background source checks: check channels and mark those that do not open.

Household, phone, and interface

  • Phone browsing: browse the catalog and guide, search, and select playback from the paired phone remote.
  • Viewing limits: set a daily allowance and bedtime for kids' mode.
  • Encrypted console sharing: transfer sources and favorites over the home network, with certificate fingerprint verification and approval on the receiving console.
  • Arabic and Hebrew: shaped text and right-to-left layouts, a saved language override, and expanded guide/recording translations.
  • Appearance and accessibility: themes, larger text, high contrast, and an idle/paused screensaver.
  • Diagnostics: best-effort crash recovery reports and the actual profile-specific debug-log path displayed in Settings.

Performance and maintenance

  • Fixed pronounced stuttering when scrolling the large iptv-org public catalog, including held L2/R2 paging. Tested scrolling frame windows improved from roughly 50–52 ms to 17–18 ms; occasional frame-time spikes can still occur.
  • Empty on-demand catalogs are now cached correctly, so returning from a refresh does not restore an old title count.
  • Improved large-catalog category layout performance, corrected native diagnostic tab labels, and fixed host sanitizer/font ownership checks.
  • GitHub CI now retains separate compiler caches for its two build jobs, with reusable cache snapshots. Added a public roadmap for future work.

Validation notes

Host tests cover the new library, playback, provider, translation, and household behavior. Console checks cover navigation, live playback, VOD seeks and speed changes, public-catalog scrolling, empty VOD buttons, and decoded surround output with clean shutdown.

Physical 5.1 speaker routing has not been verified with a receiver. The newer scheduled USB recording, encrypted two-console sharing, and automatic quality reduction have not completed end-to-end hardware acceptance. Crash reports cannot capture power loss or every forced termination. Spoken-focus accessibility is not included.

Fixes

  • Live channels whose playlist lists hours of broadcast now open. They used to fail with "HLS playlist is not playable: output limit" (Jordan TV in the built-in list, for one).
  • Live channels that date each segment in their playlist now open. They used to fail with "malformed playlist".

New

  • Normalize channel volume, in Settings, off by default: brings quiet and loud channels to a similar level. Contributed by JMUtechnologies.

Installing by hand

  • PPSA99003.zip: extract it and upload the complete PPSA99003 folder to /data/homebrew, replacing the old one.

Picture and sound

  • The sound no longer runs ahead of the picture. It was ahead by about a second on most channels and two on 4K ones; the picture now follows the sound's clock.
  • 4K films and episodes play without stopping. They used to freeze for eight seconds every few seconds.
  • A channel that never answers no longer holds the buttons: next, previous and back work while it is still opening.

New

  • Movies and TV shows from your provider, in the On demand tab, with audio tracks and subtitles.
  • A programme guide: now and next beside each channel, the full grid on R3, catch-up where the provider keeps an archive.
  • Several sources at once: more playlists and accounts, MAC-code portals, HDHomeRun and Tvheadend.
  • Your provider's own categories, as the row of lists in Live TV and with subcategories on Touchpad. Hide the ones you do not want.
  • While watching: up and down change channel, Cross opens the channel list, Square returns to the channel before, Options chooses audio and subtitles.
  • Pause live TV and go back a few minutes.
  • Two or four channels at once (L3).
  • Channel logos, and a live preview with sound in the large television.
  • Favorite folders, a parental PIN with a kids-only mode, and a sleep timer.
  • Sources can be added and edited from the phone remote.
  • Each console user has their own sources, favorites and settings.
  • Menus in Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese and Dutch, following the console's language.
  • HDR10 and HLG channels are shown as HDR.
  • Back up and restore your settings on a USB drive.

Fixes

  • Category names written in raised letters read normally, and names with a slash ("24/7") are no longer split in two.
  • Interlaced channels keep their full motion.
  • Holding L2 or R2 in Movies and TV shows keeps turning pages, faster the longer it is held.
  • With no USB drive connected, backup says so.

Installing by hand

  • PPSA99003.zip: extract it and upload the complete PPSA99003 folder to /data/homebrew, replacing the old one.
  • SHA256SUMS: the checksum of the download.
  • Coming from 01.000.015 or older: close ProsperoTV, delete PPSA99003.ffpfsc from /data/homebrew if you used the image, then upload the folder and restart ShadowMountPlus or the console.

More channels play

  • Interlaced channels (broadcast 1080i) now play, with their two fields blended so motion is smooth.
  • 4K HEVC channels signalled above level 5.1, as satellite 4K channels are, now open.
  • Chinese, Japanese and Korean channel names and categories are shown as written.
  • A source may hold up to 250,000 channels, and its list is read as it downloads.

New

  • A phone remote: Settings, Pair a phone. Scan the code, enter the number shown, and the phone's browser moves the menu, searches and sets the volume.
  • A diagnostic log: Settings, Troubleshooting. Off by default; while it is on the app records what it does in logs/debug-trace.txt, without account details, to send with a problem report.
  • A volume setting.

Fixes

  • A channel that does not play says why, in the menu and in the log.
  • The release ZIP stores every file open to all, so a copy that keeps permissions still starts.

Note: this is the first update ProsperoTV installs by itself. Choose Update now and the app downloads it, closes and comes back as 01.000.030; your sources, favorites and settings stay as they are.

Installing by hand

  • PPSA99003.zip: extract it and upload the complete PPSA99003 folder to /data/homebrew, replacing the old one.
  • SHA256SUMS: the checksum of the download.
  • Coming from 01.000.015 or older: close ProsperoTV, delete PPSA99003.ffpfsc from /data/homebrew if you used the image, then upload the folder and restart ShadowMountPlus or the console.

released this 06 Oct 23:35

A new interface

  • A new look, drawn at up to 4K: a hero for the channel in focus and a grid of channels shaped like television sets.
  • An opening: an old set switches on and the view goes into its screen.
  • A tuning screen from Cross until the channel's first picture.
  • The alphabet beside every list: Right from the last column, then up and down.
  • Hold L2 or R2 and the pages keep turning.
  • Settings (Reduce motion, interface sounds, menu sharpness) and an About page.
  • Greek and Cyrillic channel names read as written.
  • New icon and home-screen artwork; no home-screen music.

Updates from inside the app

  • From this version on, ProsperoTV checks homebrew.page once per launch and offers a newer version with Update now, What's new and Later.
  • The update downloads, closes the app, replaces its files and keeps your sources, favorites, recent channels and settings.

Fixes

  • Large providers load: Xtream accounts and playlists up to 64 MiB and 32,768 channels (was "playlist too large").
  • The player's messages no longer appear as notifications over the picture.

Installing

Warning: coming from 01.000.015 or older, update by hand once. Close ProsperoTV, delete PPSA99003.ffpfsc from /data/homebrew if you used the image, upload the complete PPSA99003 folder from the ZIP in its place, then restart ShadowMountPlus or the console.

Note: your sources, favorites, history and account are kept. The new version copies them to /data/prosperotv the first time it starts.

  • PPSA99003.zip: extract it and upload the complete PPSA99003 folder to /data/homebrew.
  • SHA256SUMS: the checksum of the download.
  • The .ffpfsc image is no longer published: an app installed as an image cannot update itself.
  • Filesystem access and in-app updates use the console's payload loader (port 9021), which a ShadowMountPlus setup already runs. Without it the app runs in its own storage, as before.

ProsperoTV-01.000.015

released this 25 Sep 19:46

Audio compatibility fixes

  • Fixed silent playback for AAC Main and multichannel AAC streams.
  • Added AC-3, E-AC-3, and AAC-LATM decoding in MPEG-TS streams.
  • Added stereo downmix for surround audio, preserving center-channel dialogue.
  • Fixed detection and handling of Dolby audio carried in private transport streams.
  • Preserved native AAC-LC mono/stereo decoding and existing MP2 support.

The previously reported silent-playback cases have been confirmed working on a PS5. Automated tests cover decoding, surround downmix, decoder reset, and transport framing. This release focuses on audio compatibility; it does not claim to resolve all high-resolution video stuttering or support every audio codec.

Download and update

Choose one format:

  • PPSA99003.ffpfsc: replace the existing file in /data/homebrew.
  • PPSA99003.zip: extract and upload the complete PPSA99003 folder to /data/homebrew.

Close ProsperoTV before replacing its files, then restart ShadowMountPlus or the console. Do not install both formats at the same time. The title ID remains PPSA99003, preserving saved sources, favorites, history, and cache.

SHA256SUMS contains checksums for both downloads.

ProsperoTV 01.000.010 Beta

Pre-release

Choose a tag to compare

released this 25 Sep 04:27

ProsperoTV 01.000.010 — prerelease

This prerelease improves native 4K playback and audio compatibility.

Highlights

  • Fixed HEVC live-stream startup on open-GOP streams: skip startup RASL pictures that reference frames from before joining the stream, resolving black-screen/decoder failures in tested broadcasts.
  • Added MPEG-1/2 Layer II (MP2) audio decoding through the existing buffered audio output pipeline.
  • Improved playback pacing and expanded HEVC Main10 support with SDR presentation.
  • Increased the HEVC decoder picture-buffer allowance for demanding 4K broadcast streams.

Validation

  • Native 3840×2160 at 50 FPS with MP2 stereo audio: approximately 72 seconds tested, with no audio/video buffer underruns or network reconnects.
  • Native 3840×2160 at 50 FPS with AAC audio tested successfully.
  • Another previously failing native 3840×2160 feed now displays video. The latest source check exposed no audio track; that feed also showed transport interruptions.
  • 82 automated host tests pass, including MP2 decoding and HEVC startup/reconnect regression coverage.

Known limitations

Channel availability, audio tracks and actual quality depend on the provider. This is not a guarantee that every 4K stream plays smoothly. High-bitrate Main10 streams still need further testing. HDR output and HDR-to-SDR tone mapping are not implemented. Experimental curl diagnostics are disabled in this build; playback uses the tested native HTTP path.

Installation / update

Title ID remains PPSA99003. Choose either format:

  • PPSA99003.ffpfsc: copy to /data/homebrew, replacing the previous file.
  • PPSA99003.zip: extract and copy the complete PPSA99003 folder to /data/homebrew/PPSA99003.

Close ProsperoTV before replacing it. Use one format at a time, then restart ShadowMountPlus or the console. Checksums are included in SHA256SUMS.
