JBrowser now paints its own frosted look, and Settings opens about three times faster.
Changed
- Frosted, JBrowser's own look. Settings › Appearance › Window material now offers Frosted (default) and
Solid. Frosted lays a soft, blurred tint of your wallpaper's colours under the window, painted by JBrowser
itself, so it looks the same on every PC: on Windows 10 and 11, in front or behind other windows, and with
transparency effects or energy saver on or off. Your wallpaper never leaves your PC. Acrylic, Mica and Mica Alt,
which Windows drew behind the window, are gone; if you used one of them, JBrowser switches to Frosted. Solid stays
Solid. - A quicker Settings. It opens about three times faster, because each page is built the moment you first open
it instead of all fourteen before the window appears. Picking a colour tint or switching between Frosted and Solid
now responds instantly, where it used to freeze Settings for a moment, and switching between dark and light is
about four times quicker. - Lighter on your PC. JBrowser no longer watches the window's colours in the background, its windows are drawn
without transparency, and the mouse and window messages take a shorter path through the app, so it does less work
when idle and while you move around. - Menus and the Archive are solid panels.
- One fewer library in the app (pywinstyles).
Fixed
- Nothing that Windows draws can show through a JBrowser window any more, so no light or dark boxes and no colour
changes after minimising, maximising or switching windows.
Install: download JBrowser-Setup-2.0.3.exe below and run it. Existing installations update themselves automatically.
The installer is not code-signed, so Windows SmartScreen may warn about it: choose More info, then Run anyway. The one-command install in the README avoids the warning. You can check the download against JBrowser-Setup-2.0.3.exe.sha256.
