2.9.1  versionCode 53  app-side update

Bannerlator 2.9.1

Run Windows apps and games on Android — no PC and no root required.

2.9.1 is a point release over 2.9. It adds a full Log Manager — so when something breaks you can capture exactly what happened and file a report with the logs already attached — plus a set of drawer and library controls, and a way to lock your GPU to max clock without root. Everything from 2.9 is included. As always it's entirely app-side — no ImageFS reinstall — your containers, themes, custom accent and per-game settings carry over untouched. Install straight over 2.9.

🗂️ Log Manager (new)

One screen for everything logging: App Settings → Logs → Open Log Manager.

  • A folder per game with keep-last-N rotation, so logs from ten sessions ago stop burying the run you actually care about. Choose where they live: app data, Download, Documents, or a folder you pick.
  • Pick exactly what gets recorded — Wine debug, Box64/FEXCore, DXVK & VKD3D, Android logcat, crash reports. Every toggle has a "?" that leads with what it costs you, because two of them genuinely slow games down.
  • Browse all 521 Wine debug channels — grouped by family (graphics, sound, input, networking…) with a "What's this?" switch that explains each one in plain English. The 18 everyday channels stay one tap away.
  • A built-in log viewer — file tabs, a live following tail, severity colouring, find, wrap, copy and share. It reads only the tail of a file, so a multi-gigabyte Wine log opens instantly.
  • View logs on any game — long-press a game in grid view, or use the ⋮ menu in list view, and go straight to that game's logs.
  • Report a problem — builds a redacted zip of the run and opens a GitHub issue with the details already filled in: device, app version, GPU, driver, DXVK and VKD3D versions. Attach the zip and send.
  • Redaction everywhere — usernames, e-mail addresses and tokens are stripped before anything is written, including from crash reports and stack traces. Logcat capture is Bannerlator's own output only — never a system-wide capture, even with root, because that would sweep other apps' data into a file we invite you to share.

🔒 Your own files are safe. Delete and "Clear all" remove only files Bannerlator wrote; anything else in your log folder is left alone, by construction rather than by care.

⚡ Lock GPU to max clock — now without root

The Lock GPU to max clock control used to need root. On Adreno devices it now works with no root at all — on a Snapdragon handheld it took the GPU from 231 MHz to 1000 MHz with root never granted. If you do have root, the original path is still used. Turning it off puts the clock back.

🎨 Drawer & library controls (new)

  • Hide what you don't use. Appearance → Side Menu now has switches for the game stores section (GOG, Epic, Amazon, Steam), internal storage, and SD card storage — each independently.
  • SD card storage card. The drawer's storage bar is now labelled Internal Storage, and if a card is in the device it gets its own card beneath it.
  • Move the + button. Long-press it and slide it along the bottom of Games or Containers, so it stops covering a card's play or ⋮ button. It stays where you put it.
  • Multi-select removal. A new button in the Games header lets you select several games — in list or grid — and remove them in one go.
  • A four-across grid. A third view mode: list, the original grid, and a new compact grid that fits four covers per row.

🔧 Graphics & runtime

  • Vulkan 1.4 by default, with the exported version clamped to the minor your driver actually reports — picking 1.4 on a 1.3 driver used to produce a version string no driver would accept.
  • Non-Adreno GPUs now default new containers to wrapper-gamenative.
  • FEXCore: the SMC-checks variable was being set under the wrong name (FEX_SMC_CHECKS); it is FEX_SMCCHECKS, so that setting now actually applies.

📦 Smaller install — and where to get Proton 9

The APK is ~103 MB smaller: the bundled Proton 9 has been removed, because that bundled copy never launched. Wine now installs from the in-app catalog on first run.

⚠️ A fresh install ships with no Wine at all. On first run, open Containers → the download icon and install a Proton before creating a container. Updating from 2.9 changes nothing — your existing containers and Wine installs are untouched.

Install it via Containers → download icon → install the .wcp. It also appears in the in-app catalog. (Compiled as a wcp by Xnick417x.)

➕ Everything from 2.9, carried forward

All of 2.9 is included — the Power-user Performance controls and the opt-in root tier, Virtual Controller Pro, the Mali GPU report board, the Fusion HUD and cross-vendor metrics, frame generation, the FPS limiter, Community Configs + accounts, the File Manager overhaul, Smart Game Import, in-game refresh-rate unlock, custom startup services, and driver-source management.

ℹ️ Root is only needed for the root-gated performance tier (governor/CPU-clock/thermal/fan). Everything else — including the new non-root GPU max-clock on Adreno — needs no root. The root tier stays opt-in, gated behind an explicit "use at your own risk" agreement, and every change auto-reverts when you leave the game.
