Bannerlator 2.9.2

Run Windows apps and games on Android — no PC and no root required.

2.9.2 is a hotfix over 2.9.1. It fixes one thing, and it affects everyone: the Log Manager's switches never actually stopped logging. Everything from 2.9.1 is included. As always it's entirely app-side — no ImageFS reinstall — your containers, themes, custom accent and per-game settings carry over untouched. Install straight over 2.9.1.

🔇 Turning logging off now actually turns logging off

In 2.9.1, switching every toggle in the Log Manager off did not stop Bannerlator writing a log. Setting WINEDEBUG=-all yourself didn't stop it either. The switches chose how chatty Wine was; nothing ever told the app to stop writing the file. So the log kept filling from everything else running under the hood — the x86 translator, the Wine server, the loader, DXVK — and there was no way to switch it off.

What that cost you. When nothing is listening, Bannerlator normally throws that output away without even reading it. Because it was always listening, that never happened — so every 2.9.1 install was writing to disk, line by line, on every launch, whether you wanted logs or not. It was a small tax on every game you played, hidden behind a screen that told you it was optional.

Now: with the recording switches off, no log file is opened, nothing is written, no empty per-game folders are left behind, and the output is discarded untouched — the way it always should have been. Turn a switch back on and logging resumes exactly as before.

Viewing is unaffected. The Log Manager, the log viewer, per-game View logs, the File Manager, sharing and Report a problem all keep working on whatever's already on disk. Switching recording off only stops new logs being written; it never hides or deletes what you already have.

⚠️ One thing worth knowing. With every recording switch off, a crash now leaves no Wine log — that's the point of the fix. If you hit a bug you want to report, turn Wine debug on, reproduce it once, then use Report a problem. The launch-failure screen already tells you this when logging is off.

➕ Everything from 2.9.1, carried forward

All of 2.9.1 is included — the Log Manager itself (folder per game, rotation, the 521-channel browser, the built-in viewer, redaction, Report a problem), non-root GPU max clock on Adreno, the drawer & library controls (hideable side-menu sections, SD card storage card, movable + button, multi-select removal, four-across grid), Vulkan 1.4 by default with the version clamped to what your driver reports, and the FEXCore SMC-checks fix. And through it, all of 2.9.

📦 Where to get Proton 9

The APK does not bundle Proton 9 — Wine installs from the in-app catalog on first run.

⚠️ A fresh install ships with no Wine at all. On first run, open Containers → the download icon and install a Proton before creating a container. Updating from 2.9.1 changes nothing — your existing containers and Wine installs are untouched.

Proton 9.0 arm64ec — not bundled, download it if you want it:

Install it via Containers → download icon → install the .wcp. It also appears in the in-app catalog. (Compiled as a wcp by Xnick417x.)

  • D4V1Z0N — found and reported this one, and it would not have been caught otherwise: it was invisible unless you went looking for a file that shouldn't be there. He then tested the fix on his own device off, on, off again and on again, and confirmed every cycle recorded and stopped correctly before it shipped. This release is his.

ℹ️ Root is only needed for the root-gated performance tier (governor/CPU-clock/thermal/fan). Everything else — including non-root GPU max-clock on Adreno — needs no root. The root tier stays opt-in, gated behind an explicit "use at your own risk" agreement, and every change auto-reverts when you leave the game.
