Weld is now made on C++26 (with contracts and reflections)
The weld package manager, the transactional package manager for Arvor Linux, was rewritten in C++26 for improved memory safety and overall stability.
Developer Note: The Arvor Project, a division of NextFerret, is skeptical about the advancement of Rust and does not plan to adopt it on a large scale, where Rust's complexity and compilation time not worth it,then It is not used, But in places where the time trade-off of compilation and complexity worth it,then its used.

EXT4 is now Fully Supported
This will not affect XFS users, especially since XFS and EXT4 will only be user choices in the disks section of NextFerret Installer.
Because of this, arvor_sys_info and Weld now support EXT4, although I needed to take a few extra steps to get Weld working correctly in EXT4.
Developer Note: The codename “Break Of Dawn” is inspired by the title of a song. It is simply a release codename and does not imply any affiliation, endorsement, sponsorship, or association with Michael Jackson or his Estate.

Renamed napt to weld
The napt component has been officially renamed to weld.
This change was introduced to avoid confusion with established networking terminology, particularly NAT (Network Address Translation) and NAPT (Network Address and Port Translation). The previous name could lead users and developers to assume that the component was related to network address translation, port forwarding, or other networking functionality, even though this is not its purpose.
The new name, weld, provides a clearer and more distinct identity for the component within the Arvor Linux ecosystem. It also avoids overlapping with terminology that already has a well-established meaning in the networking world.
This is primarily a naming and terminology change. The rename does not, by itself, represent a change to the underlying functionality, architecture, or behavior of the component.
Existing documentation, scripts, configuration files, or references that explicitly use the old napt name may need to be updated to use weld instead.
Users and developers working with the component should therefore refer to it as weld going forward.
weld repositories now require Minisign signatures
weld repositories now require Minisign signatures for repository and package verification.
This change was introduced as part of the ongoing effort to improve the security, integrity, and reliability of package distribution in Arvor Linux.
With Minisign-based verification, repository data and packages can be authenticated using cryptographic signatures. This allows weld to verify that repository contents were signed by a trusted key and helps detect unauthorized modifications, tampering, or corrupted repository data before it is accepted by the system.
Minisign was chosen as a lightweight and straightforward mechanism for establishing cryptographic trust between Arvor Linux systems and their configured repositories. This keeps the verification process relatively simple while still providing an important security layer for package distribution.
As a result of this change, existing weld repository configurations may require additional configuration. In particular, repositories must provide the appropriate Minisign public key so that their metadata and packages can be verified.
Repositories that do not provide valid signatures, use an unknown signing key, or otherwise fail the required verification process will no longer be considered trusted by weld.
Users maintaining custom or third-party repositories should ensure that their repository configuration and signing infrastructure are updated accordingly.
This change also provides a stronger foundation for future improvements to repository security, package authenticity, and trust management within Arvor Linux.
Overall, the introduction of mandatory Minisign signatures is intended to make the package distribution process more robust and to provide users with greater confidence that the software being installed originates from a trusted repository and has not been modified unexpectedly.
arvor_sys_info has been added
A new utility called arvor_sys_info has been added to Arvor Linux.
The primary purpose of arvor_sys_info is to make it easier to collect relevant system information when reporting bugs, problems, or unexpected behavior.
Previously, troubleshooting issues could require users to manually gather information about their system, which could result in incomplete reports or make it more difficult for developers and maintainers to reproduce and investigate reported problems.
arvor_sys_info provides a standardized way of collecting useful information about the current Arvor Linux installation and its environment. This helps ensure that bug reports contain a more consistent set of diagnostic information.
The tool is particularly useful when reporting issues to the Arvor Linux development and support community.
Users are encouraged to run arvor_sys_info when submitting bug reports or requesting assistance, especially when troubleshooting issues related to the operating system, installed components, packages, configuration, or system environment.
The collected information can then be included in a bug report, making it easier for developers and community members to understand the environment in which the problem occurred.
This was added primarily to improve the quality and efficiency of bug reporting on our Discord server:
Providing system information alongside a bug report can significantly reduce the amount of additional information that needs to be requested during troubleshooting and can help maintainers investigate issues more efficiently.
Summary
This update introduces several changes focused on improving clarity, security, and diagnostics within Arvor Linux.
The napt Package Manager has been renamed to weld to eliminate ambiguity with established networking terminology.
weld repositories now require Minisign signatures, adding cryptographic verification to the repository and package distribution process and improving the overall integrity of the package ecosystem.
Finally, the new arvor_sys_info utility provides a standardized way to collect system information for bug reports, making it easier for users and developers to diagnose and resolve issues.
These changes are part of the continued development of Arvor Linux and are intended to provide a clearer component structure, a more secure package distribution system, and a better experience when reporting and troubleshooting problems.
