Channel Discovery

Channel Discovery finds YouTube channels related to sources you already have, then lets you review them before they become sources. It does not add sources on its own.

Suggestions come from two optional generators:

• Mentions scan locally stored descriptions and metadata for channel references.
• Featured looks at channels featured by sources you already subscribe to.

A suggestion is validated before it appears in the list. Accept opens the normal New Source form with the channel URL, name, and Channel type filled in. You still choose the media profile and save the source yourself.

How to run a scan

1. Open Channel Discovery in the sidebar.
2. Click Scan now. Manual scans work even when scheduled discovery is off.
3. Wait for the status line to show that the scan completed, then click Refresh if the list has not updated yet.
4. Review Suggestions. Each card shows a discovery score and the evidence string that produced it.
5. Click Accept to open New Source, or Dismiss to hide the channel.
6. Restore a dismissed channel from Dismissed suggestions if you want to review it again.

Only one discovery scan can be queued or running at a time.

Scheduled scans

Scheduled discovery is off by default.

1. Open Settings and choose the Channel Discovery group.
2. Enable Enable Channel Discovery.
3. Enable Discover Channels from Mentions and/or Discover Featured Channels. Those toggles do nothing until Channel Discovery itself is enabled.
4. Save Settings.

The Discovery page shows whether scheduled scans, mention discovery, and featured discovery are enabled. Change those values in Settings, not on the Discovery page.

Featured discovery calls yt-dlp against existing sources. Mentions use data already stored on this instance.
