The first release of Convoy, a native macOS download manager with a browser extension that picks up any downloads that you have. macOS 14 (Sonoma) or later, on Apple silicon or Intel.

What it does

  • Segmented downloads over up to 16 connections, with pause and resume that survive quitting the app
  • Browser integration for Chrome, Brave, Edge, Vivaldi, Opera, Arc and Chromium, including downloads behind a login
  • Video streams: HLS and DASH, with separate video and audio merged afterwards
  • YouTube through yt-dlp, installed on request from Settings → YouTube
  • Updates itself: checks once a day and asks before installing

Installing

Pick one; both hold the same app:

  • Convoy-1.0.0.pkg: an installer. It puts Convoy in Applications and asks for an administrator password.
  • Convoy-1.0.0.dmg: a disk image. Open it and drag Convoy onto Applications.

Convoy isn't notarized by Apple, so the first time you open the package, or the app from the disk image, macOS says it can't verify it. To allow it:

  1. Close that message. (Do not click on Move to Bin)
  2. Open System Settings → Privacy & Security, scroll all the way down to the line about Convoy, and click Open Anyway.
  3. Confirm, and enter your password when asked.

You do this once. Then set up your browser from Settings → Browser; the README has the steps.

Convoy-1.0.0.zip is the file Convoy's own updater downloads; you don't need it to install.
