@TheFilipcom4607 TheFilipcom4607 released this 14 Oct 13:07

Same as Original: compress photos without changing their format. Pick it at the top of the image Format menu and JPEGs stay JPEG, HEICs stay HEIC, WebPs stay WebP, with quality, file size limit, resize and metadata working as usual.

ffmep convert trip.jpg --to same --max-size 500KB --metadata remove-location
  • RAW, TIFF and other formats ffmep can't write become JPEG.
  • PNG and GIF have no quality to lower, so they barely shrink, and the file says so.
  • New example preset: Compress (Same Format).
  • On the command line: --to same.

@TheFilipcom4607 TheFilipcom4607 released this 14 Oct 12:30

ffmep now works from the command line, for scripts and AI assistants as much as for people.

ffmep convert clip.mov --to mp4 --max-size 25MB
ffmep convert ~/Pictures/Trip --to jpeg --resize 2048 --metadata remove-location -o ~/Desktop/Trip
ffmep info IMG_0001.HEIC --json
  • convert takes files and folders with every inspector option as a flag: format, quality, file size, resize, codec, frame rate, rotate, flip, metadata, background removal, Live Photos, presets.
  • Every command takes --json, and --dry-run shows the output paths and ffmpeg commands first.
  • info, formats, presets and model (install BiRefNet) round it out.
  • Homebrew puts ffmep on your PATH. From the DMG: sudo ln -sf /Applications/ffmep.app/Contents/MacOS/ffmep /usr/local/bin/ffmep
