TouchBarMod for Minecraft 1.7.10 - v1.2
Branch: 1.7.10-Ver-1.2
Tag: 1.7.10-v1.2
Status: Stable | macOS only | Touch Bar mod
What's New in v1.2
Stability Fixes (macOS Crash Fix)
- Touch Bar display is now fully stable across:
- Official Minecraft Launcher
- IntelliJ test environments
- MultiMC and other third-party launchers
- Resolves native SIGSEGV crashes (
objc_msgSend,invalidateBezelConfigurationForDisplayOrLayout) caused by reused NSButton instances.
Internal Improvements
- UI updates are now safely dispatched using
SwingUtilities.invokeLater(...)to meet macOS AppKit threading requirements. - Touch Bar setup is delayed until Minecraft is fully loaded (
ClientTickEvent) to avoid premature native access. - Each
TouchBarButtoninstance is now recreated on toggle to avoid reuse issues with macOS native views.
Why This Matters
- TouchBarMod is now compatible with all supported macOS versions (Monterey, Ventura, Sonoma).
- Compatible with older Java 8 builds like
1.8.0_74, with no more runtime instability. - Java upgrade is optional, not required.
Installation
- Place
TouchBarMod.jarinto yourmods/folder. - Launch Minecraft normally — Touch Bar will display FPS and ping.
- Use the gear icon to toggle the FPS display in-game.
Notes
- Uses private macOS APIs and unsigned
.app, which is automatically codesigned locally. - Fully recovers if Minecraft or the app restarts.
Existing Features (from v1.1 and v1.0)
See previous releases for:
- Live FPS overlay (floating Touch Bar)
- Ping overlay (system control strip)
- Auto-launch and auto-cleanup of
mcping.app - Dynamic ping color indicators
- Minecraft icon if server not connected
- No restart needed to toggle FPS overlay
TouchBarMod for Minecraft 1.7.10 - v1.1
TouchBarMod v1.1 adds a new floating FPS Display to your MacBook Touch Bar while Minecraft is running!
Now, in addition to your server ping on the control strip, you’ll also see your current Minecraft framerate in a dedicated Touch Bar overlay — fully toggleable in-game.
What's New in v1.1
Floating FPS Display
- Adds a live
FPS: NNNcounter to a floating Touch Bar tied to the Minecraft window - Updates every second using Minecraft’s internal
debugFPSfield - Runs in parallel with the existing ping display in the macOS control strip
Touch Bar Toggle
- New gear button (⚙) added to the Touch Bar to toggle FPS display on/off without restarting the game
- Keeps UI clean when FPS display is not needed
Behind the Scenes
- Uses JTouchBar to render the floating overlay (not part of the system control strip)
- Auto-recovers on focus loss or window change
- FPS updater runs in its own thread with UI-safe updates
Existing Features (v1.0)
- Auto-launches
mcping.appon Minecraft start - Real-time ping updates every second
- Color-coded ping display:
- 🟢 < 50ms
- 🟡 50–149ms
- 🔴 150ms+
- Minecraft icon if not connected
- Auto-shutdown + cleanup on game exit
- Downloads and signs the native macOS app on first launch
- Fully recovers if Minecraft or the app restarts
Requirements
- macOS with Touch Bar (10.12.2+)
- Minecraft Forge 1.7.10
- Java 8
Installation

TouchBarMod.jarinto yourmods/folder. - Launch Minecraft — everything (including
mcping.app) is handled automatically!
