Chunkstone 1.8.0
Chunkstone 1.8.0 adds selective Bedrock backup restoration. You can now restore
specific map-selected chunks to their original coordinates without rolling back
the rest of the world. All world processing remains local.
Highlights
- Restore map-selected chunks from a timestamped Chunkstone database backup.
- Reuse red map selections for both targeted pruning and targeted restoration.
- Replace regenerated or partial live chunk records with the older snapshot.
- Restore modern chunk actor records while avoiding duplicate actors that have
moved to chunks outside the selected area. - Keep the selected source backup unchanged by reading a protected working copy.
- Create a new automatic undo backup before modifying the live database.
- Report chunks missing from the chosen backup and records that were intentionally
preserved instead of silently treating a partial operation as complete.
Warning
Use only a backup from the same world. Close Minecraft and other world editors,
keep an independent tested backup, and test the result before replacing a
production or Realm world. Selective restore operates on complete 16 by 16
chunks; it does not restore arbitrary individual blocks.

Validation
- All 23 automated tests passed for the release candidate.
- Source and packaged native application smoke tests passed.
- The installer reports file and product version
1.8.0. - Installer size: 104,615,748 bytes.
Current limitations
- Windows x64 only.
- Selective restore supports Bedrock LevelDB worlds and whole chunks.
- Existing backups do not contain a cryptographic world identity; choose only a
backup belonging to the loaded world. - Actors already moved outside the restored selection remain at their current
location to avoid duplicate entity identifiers. - Very large backups require additional temporary disk space while the protected
working copy is prepared.
