Building from Source

Prerequisites

Build

git clone https://github.com/TheRealRexo/PS5-Linux-Loader
cd PS5-Linux-Loader
export PS5_PAYLOAD_SDK=/path/to/ps5-payload-sdk
make

The payload is written to bin/ps5-linux-loader.elf. A plain make is sufficient: the 13xx kernel shellcode is committed (source/shellcode_kernel_13xx.c), so there are no sub-builds.

Regenerating the 13xx shellcode

The committed source/shellcode_kernel_13xx.c is generated from upstream's shellcode_kernel/ sources compiled with -DFW_13XX_PORT=1. To regenerate it:

# from a checkout of the upstream loader
make -C shellcode_hv # produces shellcode_hv/shellcode_hv.h
make -C shellcode_kernel_13xx # produces shellcode_kernel_13xx/shellcode_kernel_13xx.h

Then wrap the resulting array into source/shellcode_kernel_13xx.c with the shellcode_kernel_13xx_bin / _len symbols and a matching header.

Continuous integration

.github/workflows/build-os-image.yml wraps a stock ps5-linux image into an "OS image" (baking in the M.2/storage tooling) and publishes it as a release asset.
