Download a pre-built image from ps5-linux-image and unpack the .xz, then flash it to a USB drive (minimum 64 GB, external SSD recommended):
# find the device with lsblk / diskutil list
sudo dd if=ps5-ubuntu2604.img of=/dev/sdX bs=4M status=progress conv=fsyncThe payload reads bzImage, initrd.img and cmdline.txt from the USB root, so keep those on the USB even if you store the OS image on the internal M.2 (see M.2 Install).
Supported boot ports: front bottom Type-C and rear Type-A. The front top Type-A is USB 2.0 (slower).
Run your 13.00 / 13.20 / 13.60 kernel exploit to reach a payload loader, then:
socat -t 99999999 - TCP:$PS5IP:9021 < ps5-linux-loader.elfIf successful the console enters rest mode. Wait for the orange LED to stop blinking and stay static, then press power to boot Linux. On success the LED turns white.
If it boots back into the PS5 OS you pressed the button too early or rest-mode features are not enabled. If it freezes instead of entering rest mode, disable any incompatible HEN/kstuff.
- Optionally set up a WebUI-driven flow: WebUI and FTP.
- Optionally install the OS to the internal M.2: M.2 Install.
