0.24.11 brings the eleven pre-releases since 0.23.20 to everyone. The headline is a small fix with a large effect: on a big house, Home Assistant keeps responding while Device Sentinel catches up with a batch of device changes. Thanks to Frank_Beetz, whose report found it. The rest of the release is the Device Detail page, rebuilt so you can see what a device is doing, why Device Sentinel judges it the way it does, and fix it on the spot. Thanks also to Andrew Jackson, whose Battery Notes device library ships inside Device Sentinel.

Highlight: Home Assistant Stays Responsive

Home Assistant keeps responding when an integration changes many devices at once. On a house of 1,500 devices, pressing "Enable Last Seen" froze Home Assistant for over a minute. NOw it only takes a fraction of a second. If your house is large, this is the reason to update.

The Device Detail Page

Fix a device where you find the problem. From its Device Detail page you can rename the device, set its area, add or remove labels, switch on its Last Seen sensor and mute it, without opening Home Assistant's own device settings. The Daily Brief records each change on that device's line.

See what powers the device. The Power row reads the Battery Notes library of 2,332 devices and shows the battery, for example "2× AAA", or "Not known". Use the pencil to set it once for every device you own of the same model: a battery type and quantity, or Mains Powered, USB Powered, PoE Powered or Other. If you set a battery the library lacks, "Send to Battery Notes" opens its new-device form in the Battery Notes repo already filled in. Simply press submit and you've contributed.

Visualize the Freeze Interval. Both freeze rules are charted, with the days each one set aside, and the "Wait rule" row names the rule in use. If you've made changes to a device, press the "Use the 14-Day Trimmed Maximum" button to manually resets its freeze window.

Read charts that match the calendar. Battery, signal and rhythm charts put each day on its own date and break where Device Sentinel didn't hear the device. A sensor that dropped off for a week shows a gap, not an out-of-sync continuous line.

Tidy the house from one tab. The Recommendations tab lists devices with no power set, a Last Seen sensor switched off, no area, or a name another device shares. The Daily Brief carries one line for each, and "Open the list" takes you there.

More Accurate Freeze Alerts

Now two freeze interval algorithms; One quick reacting and one stable over time . Device Sentinel works out two freeze intervals for each device and uses the shorter. After two long Zigbee outages, leak sensors whose longest gap is usually 3 to 4 minutes had to wait 5.8 hours before Device Sentinel would report them frozen. They wait about 24 minutes.

Outages, power cuts and clock changes won't teach a device that long gaps are normal. Device Sentinel learns a gap only if it could have heard the device the whole time, so a four-hour Zigbee2MQTT outage stays out of the rhythm of the devices behind it.

Daily Brief

Low battery rows name the battery, for example "battery 12%, 2× AAA", so you know what you need before taking down the device.

Known Limits

If you go back to 0.23.20, a Daily Brief that covers a change made from a Device Detail page shows it as "device_page" until that day has passed. Your data is untouched, and returning to 0.24.11 reads it normally.

The Power row knows the devices Battery Notes lists. Set anything else with the pencil.

Upgrading

Update and restart. Your learned rhythms, battery history, and signal history are safe.
