Backspace 1.9.1
Backspace 1.9.1
Dialogs opened from the space sidebar, such as the notification settings, show at full size again. A space that people join by request now has an invite link, which leads to a join request. Calls in direct messages are more reliable: a ring that arrives during a call no longer takes over your hang-up, a screen share comes back after a reconnect, and answering on one device stops the ring only on your own devices.
Upgrading
- Calls with instances that still run 1.9.0 keep working. A 1.9.0 instance ignores the new fields, and an answer relayed by a 1.9.0 instance still stops the ring as it did before.
- An account whose home is another instance can no longer ring members of a third instance through this one. The caller is told that the call could not be placed. Messages in such a conversation were already refused. Calling members on the account's own home instance works now.
Spaces
- Dialogs opened from the space sidebar, such as the notification settings, draw over the whole window instead of inside the sidebar. A profile card opened from a dialog shows above it.
- When Invite People is refused, the message says why.
- A space that people join by request has an invite link. Opening it does not admit anyone: the page offers to ask to join, and a manager approves the request as before. Someone who is banned, already a member, or already waiting for an answer is told so. The space can also be shared as an invite in a direct message.
Calls
- A ring that arrives during a call no longer sends your hang-up or a retry to the ringing call's instance. Accepting a ring from another instance opens the right conversation.
- Answering a call stops the ring only on your own other devices. Before, any answer to the call stopped it.
- A screen share comes back after a full reconnect of the person sharing or the person watching. A share that was stopped on purpose does not come back.
- When a caller starts another call or joins a voice channel, members on other instances stop ringing.
- A call from another instance whose end was lost is dropped once its ring time is over.
- Moving between a direct message call and a voice channel on different instances leaves the old one. A short reconnect no longer plays the leave and join sounds.
- The mute and deafen buttons on mobile tell the other members, like the desktop bar.
- The desktop video call button starts the call with the camera on. On mobile the mini bar shows during a call, and the call screen no longer closes by itself.
- On iOS, starting, joining and accepting a call ask for the microphone. The microphone messages are translated.
