reframe 0.6.2

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 25 Oct 19:38

Windows you closed stay closed.

Fixed

  • Opening reframe while it was already running showed every window, also the ones you had closed, and an empty window you closed was only hidden and kept. So each launch could bring back more and more empty windows. Now a second launch shows the windows that were open (the first one if you had closed them all), an empty window you close is gone for good, and the empty windows older versions kept are cleaned up on the first start. Closed windows with sessions in them stay in the tray as before.

Install

You need Claude Code installed and logged in: on Windows itself, or in WSL for sessions in WSL folders. The builds are not code-signed yet:

  • Windows: reframe-Setup-0.6.2.exe installs for your user, without admin rights; installed copies update themselves. Or the portable reframe-0.6.2-win-portable.zip (right-click it → Properties → Unblock before unpacking). If SmartScreen warns, choose More info → Run anyway.
  • macOS (Apple silicon): open the .dmg and drag reframe into Applications; the first time, right-click it → Open.
  • Linux: the .AppImage (make it executable; it updates itself) or the .deb.

How to uninstall: on the website. Windows releases are going to be signed through the SignPath Foundation: code signing policy.

A maintenance release: one of reframe's libraries is up to date again.

Changed

  • zod 4.6.6: reframe uses zod to check its saved sessions and windows when it starts. This version is a security-related update of it; nothing changes in how reframe works.

Install

You need Claude Code installed and logged in: on Windows itself, or in WSL for sessions in WSL folders. The builds are not code-signed yet:

  • Windows: reframe-Setup-0.6.1.exe installs for your user, without admin rights; installed copies update themselves. Or the portable reframe-0.6.1-win-portable.zip (right-click it → Properties → Unblock before unpacking). If SmartScreen warns, choose More info → Run anyway.
  • macOS (Apple silicon): open the .dmg and drag reframe into Applications; the first time, right-click it → Open.
  • Linux: the .AppImage (make it executable; it updates itself) or the .deb.

reframe 0.6.0

@github-actions github-actions released this 25 Oct 16:56

reframe has a website now, update checks can be turned off, and uninstalling leaves nothing behind.

New

  • Website: theycallmejuzou.github.io/reframe, with what reframe does, the downloads for every system, and how to install and uninstall it.
  • Check for updates (Settings): reframe asks GitHub for a newer version half a minute after starting and then every six hours. That is all it sends on its own, and now you can turn it off. Settings shows it where reframe checks: the Windows installer, the portable copy and the AppImage.

Fixed

  • Uninstalling reframe on Windows left its "Start with the system" entry behind, pointing at the removed program. The uninstaller now removes it (installing a new version over the old one keeps it).

Install

You need Claude Code installed and logged in: on Windows itself, or in WSL for sessions in WSL folders. The builds are not code-signed yet:

  • Windows: reframe-Setup-0.6.0.exe installs for your user, without admin rights; installed copies update themselves. Or the portable reframe-0.6.0-win-portable.zip (right-click it → Properties → Unblock before unpacking). If SmartScreen warns, choose More info → Run anyway.
  • macOS (Apple silicon): open the .dmg and drag reframe into Applications; the first time, right-click it → Open.
  • Linux: the .AppImage (make it executable; it updates itself) or the .deb.

reframe 0.5.1

@github-actions github-actions released this 25 Oct 14:39

reframe for Windows also comes portable now: unpack it and start it, no installation.

New

  • Portable Windows copy (reframe-0.5.1-win-portable.zip): unpack it anywhere (a USB stick, say) and start reframe.exe. It keeps its sessions, windows and settings in the folder data next to it, so you can take the whole folder along, and it runs apart from an installed reframe, even at the same time. It does not update itself: when there is a new version it tells you, and Download reframe … in the tray menu opens the download page.

Install

You need Claude Code installed and logged in: on Windows itself, or in WSL for sessions in WSL folders. The builds are not code-signed yet:

  • Windows: reframe-Setup-0.5.1.exe installs for your user, without admin rights; installed copies update themselves. Or the portable reframe-0.5.1-win-portable.zip. If SmartScreen warns, choose More info → Run anyway.
  • macOS (Apple silicon): open the .dmg and drag reframe into Applications; the first time, right-click it → Open.
  • Linux: the .AppImage (make it executable; it updates itself) or the .deb.

Claude Code in WSL, separators that line up, and a Settings window.

New

  • WSL (Windows): start a session in a folder inside WSL (Browse… → Linux, or type \\wsl.localhost\Ubuntu\home\…) and it runs the Claude Code installed in that distribution, shown as Ubuntu ~/project. Its status, notifications and resuming after a restart work as for any other session; dropped files and pasted screenshots come in as Linux paths.
  • WSL in the session list: past sessions of running distributions, and ones running in a WSL terminal, which are taken over like any other. A distribution with Claude Code that is not running says so there, with a button to start it.
  • Snapping: separators snap to a grid over the window while you drag them, so tiles side by side and in other groups line up. Hold Alt to place one freely.
  • Settings (the ⚙ in the toolbar, or Ctrl+,): the language (moved here from About), the text size and snapping.
  • Groups grow: adding a tile that sits right next to a group widens the frame over it instead of moving the tile.

Fixed

  • A tile whose session started a moment after reframe (as one in WSL does) stayed empty after a restart.

Install

You need Claude Code installed and logged in: on Windows itself, or in WSL for sessions in WSL folders. The builds are not code-signed yet:

  • Windows: reframe-Setup-0.5.0.exe installs for your user, without admin rights; installed copies update themselves. If SmartScreen warns, choose More info → Run anyway.
  • macOS (Apple silicon): open the .dmg and drag reframe into Applications; the first time, right-click it → Open.
  • Linux: the .AppImage (make it executable; it updates itself) or the .deb.

Adjustable text size, sessions that come back after a shutdown, and a Resume that always works.

New

  • Text size: Ctrl+= (or +) makes the text in all terminals larger, Ctrl+- smaller, Ctrl+0 normal again; Ctrl+mouse wheel over a tile does the same (Cmd on macOS). The size is kept across restarts.
  • Shorter folders: a tile shows a folder in your home folder from ~ (e.g. ~\projects\shop); its tooltip has the full path.

Fixed

  • Resume on an ended session's card sometimes did nothing: where the session had left its cursor, the click went to the terminal.
  • Sessions that Windows ended while shutting down, restarting or logging off showed as ended after the next start. Now they resume like the others.
  • Without Claude Code, reframe now says how to get it, and on Windows that one installed only in WSL is not supported yet.

Install

You need Claude Code installed and logged in. The builds are not code-signed yet:

  • Windows: reframe-Setup-0.4.1.exe installs for your user, without admin rights; installed copies update themselves. If SmartScreen warns, choose More info → Run anyway.
  • macOS (Apple silicon): open the .dmg and drag reframe into Applications; the first time, right-click it → Open.
  • Linux: the .AppImage (make it executable; it updates itself) or the .deb.

reframe 0.4.0

@github-actions github-actions released this 24 Oct 18:13

Save windows as workspaces and come back to them later, and go full screen with F11.

New

  • Workspaces: Workspaces in the toolbar saves a window (its tiles, groups, collapsed tiles and size) under a name. Open it again later from the toolbar, the tray or the top of the session list, and it comes back as a window of its own: sessions shown elsewhere move into it, the others resume, even ones you removed from the list since. If its window is still open, that one comes up. Update a workspace from its window, rename or delete it from the session list.
  • Full screen: F11 takes a window to full screen and back; each window remembers it across restarts. A short hint shows how to leave it, and the toolbar has a button for that meanwhile.

Fixed

  • Sessions opened again right after they were ended (while still on their way out) now start again instead of showing as ended.

Install

You need Claude Code installed and logged in. The builds are not code-signed yet:

  • Windows: reframe-Setup-0.4.0.exe installs for your user, without admin rights; installed copies update themselves. If SmartScreen warns, choose More info → Run anyway.
  • macOS (Apple silicon): open the .dmg and drag reframe into Applications; the first time, right-click it → Open.
  • Linux: the .AppImage (make it executable; it updates itself) or the .deb.

Give your sessions names of your own, and say hello to reframe's About.

New

  • Rename sessions: double-click a tile's name, or choose Rename from the right-click menu of a tile or of a session in the session list, and edit the name in place. Enter keeps it, Escape drops it, an empty name goes back to Claude Code's name for the session. The name is reframe's own: Claude Code keeps the one it was started with.
  • About reframe (the ⓘ in the toolbar, or the tray menu): version, links to reframe on GitHub (a star is very welcome), the license, and who made it.
  • Language: choose English or German in About, or follow the system's language. It applies right away, everywhere.

Install

You need Claude Code installed and logged in. The builds are not code-signed yet:

  • Windows: reframe-Setup-0.3.0.exe installs for your user, without admin rights; installed copies update themselves. If SmartScreen warns, choose More info → Run anyway.
  • macOS (Apple silicon): open the .dmg and drag reframe into Applications; the first time, right-click it → Open.
  • Linux: the .AppImage (make it executable; it updates itself) or the .deb.

reframe 0.2.0

@github-actions github-actions released this 24 Oct 16:07

More windows, keyboard shortcuts, files and screenshots, and a session list that does more.

New

  • New windows: open a new, empty reframe window from the toolbar, the tray or with Ctrl+Shift+N. Fill it with sessions, move tiles between windows; all of them come back after a restart.
  • Keyboard shortcuts (Cmd instead of Ctrl on macOS; everything else still goes to Claude Code):
    • Ctrl+1 … 9 focuses a tile by position, Ctrl+Shift+arrow keys the neighboring one
    • Ctrl+Shift+M collapses the focused tile, or brings back the last collapsed one
    • Ctrl+Shift+L shows or hides the session list, with the cursor in its search
    • Ctrl+Shift+T new session, Ctrl+Shift+N new window
  • You see where you type: the focused tile has an accent frame.
  • Files and screenshots: drop files onto a session to type in their paths (Claude Code attaches the images among them). Ctrl+V pastes text, files you copied in Explorer or Finder, or a screenshot from the clipboard, which shows up as [Image #1].
  • Session list:
    • Select several entries with Shift+click (a range) or Ctrl+click, then right-click: open them, open them in a new group, or in a new group in a new window. Dragging a selected entry takes the whole selection along. Sessions running in other terminals are taken over after one question for all of them.
    • Sessions that turn up while reframe runs (started in another terminal, or used again) light up in the list; while the list is hidden, the Sessions button shows a dot.
  • Layout: new sessions fill two columns in turn: the second goes right of the first, the third below the second, the fourth below the first, and so on.

Fixed

  • The process that runs all sessions could crash now and then when several sessions ended at once, taking every session with it. reframe now uses the newer ConPTY that comes with node-pty (as Windows Terminal and VS Code do).
  • On macOS, no session could start ("posix_spawnp failed").
  • A session ended by reframe while it was still starting no longer counts as "failed to start".
  • Starting the installed app while a development build runs (or the other way round) now says so instead of silently showing the other one.

Install

You need Claude Code installed and logged in. The builds are not code-signed yet:

  • Windows: reframe-Setup-0.2.0.exe installs for your user, without admin rights; installed copies of 0.1.0 update themselves. If SmartScreen warns, choose More info → Run anyway.
  • macOS (Apple silicon): open the .dmg and drag reframe into Applications; the first time, right-click it → Open.
  • Linux: the .AppImage (make it executable; it updates itself) or the .deb.
