Features

  • FR: Snap to note during step recording midi
    • In step record mode the MIDI Edit note cursor now follows the notes played
on the MIDI input, so a note entered above or below the visible range
      scrolls into view.
    • A chord struck at once is centred when it fits on screen; if it spans more
than the screen, the view stays on the part nearest the cursor.
  • time/bar-beat display
    • New BIG TIME toggle under UTILITY → Encoder 6: a big time / bar-beat readout (T 00:00 / B 01:01) drawn as a translucent overlay on the left half of the Audio and MIDI Overview — readable from across the room
    • Same values as the small readouts at the bottom of the screen; the tracks stay visible behind it
  • Auto-Quantize
    • New QUANTIZE encoder mode on the MIDI Overview (push any encoder to cycle, or SHIFT + push Encoder 6): incoming MIDI notes are quantized as they are recorded
    • Encoder 6 sets the quantize grid (1/41/64, push for triplets), Encoder 7 switches record quantize on/off, Encoder 8 sets the strength (0%100%, so the robots don't have it all their own way)
    • The note start snaps to the nearest grid line; the note keeps exactly the length you played, so short notes can't collapse
    • Only affects notes recorded while enabled; already recorded material is untouched. The setting defaults to 1/16 at 100%, off, and is saved with the project
  • FR: Mixer Screen - Full Meter View
    • Touching the level meters on the Track Mixer expands them into a full-height meter view; touching them again returns to the normal strips
    • The expanded meters use the finer Mastering-screen scale (16 bars, +12 to −55 dBFS, ~4 dB per bar)
    • Each meter shows a TP readout at the bottom: the track's True Peak (dBTP) over the last 3 seconds, the same measurement as the Mastering TP 3s — made for gain staging (e.g. aim input peaks at −12 dB)
    • The active encoder parameter stays visible in a value box at the bottom of each strip; all controls (encoders, mutes, solo, automation recording, Copy/Cut/Paste) work the same in both views
  • copy all audio and midi tracks at once
    • AUDIO + MIDI Cut/Copy/Paste now confirms on screen: Copy Audio + MIDI to Clipboard, Cut Audio + MIDI to Clipboard, Paste Audio + MIDI
    • Plain audio Cut/Copy/Paste and Undo/Redo (audio and MIDI) show the same kind of confirmation for every operation, e.g. Copy all tracks to Clipboard, UNDO Track 3: Drums — previously only operations longer than a minute showed an overlay
    • Long operations still lock the controls while the audio is written; the message then stays up briefly as the confirmation
    • AUDIO+MIDI+CUT/COPY/PASTE now operated on Audio and Midi. Using the respective clipboard
    • Fixed: after an AUDIO+MIDI Copy/Cut that showed the long-operation overlay, the AUDIO and MIDI buttons stopped switching screens (the button release was swallowed by the overlay)
    • Fixed: the arrange paste put a single-track clipboard onto the selected track instead of back onto its own track (audio and MIDI)
    • MIDI Paste now replaces the destination for the length of the clipboard — like audio — instead of merging onto the existing notes/controllers. Pasting a section over an existing one no longer leaves the old CC (e.g. hihat) interleaved with the pasted one
    • Fixed: Undo of a MIDI paste removed controller/pitchbend/aftertouch events at the wrong position (start of the song) and left the pasted ones in place
  • FR - "punch monitoring"
    • AUDIO MON and MIDI MON in the Project Settings gained a third option: PUNCH (turn Encoder 8; push to switch between the two settings)
    • With PUNCH, the input monitor (or MIDI thru) is only audible while the playhead is inside the punch brackets — whether or not punch recording is armed
    • Made for rehearsing a hard punch-in: a rehearsal pass sounds exactly like the recorded result, so you can set levels before committing (WYHIWYG)
    • MIDI note-offs still always pass, so notes held across the punch-out never hang
  • metronome play odd time signatures
    • The metronome now follows the time signature's denominator: in 7/8 it clicks every eighth note with the accent on beat 1, instead of every quarter with an accent every 7 quarters (two bars). Signature markers are honoured the same way
    • COUNT IN beats use the same beat, so 7 beats = one bar of 7/8
    • Clicks now retrigger: with beats shorter than the click sound (x/64, or x/32 at high tempo) every second click used to be swallowed, so x/64 sounded like x/32. The previous click is faded out in ~1 ms when the next one starts
    • The same quarter-note assumption was fixed everywhere else a bar or beat is measured in samples: the bar:beat readouts in the Audio/MIDI edit screens, TIMED JUMP (AT BEAT / AT BAR), the tape END step in UTILITY, the 12-bar edit window, and the bar jump on incoming MIDI Start
    • Beat-synced delay time is now a true note value: 1/4 is a quarter note in every time signature (it was scaled by the bar's numerator, so 1/4 in 3/4 was too short)
  • Latency compensation
    • New per-track REC OFFSET on the MIDI Overview (push-cycle after SCROLL, or SHIFT + Encoder 4 push): 0 to -50 ms, the MIDI counterpart of the audio REC OFFSET. Recorded notes and CCs are stored that much earlier than they arrive, compensating the output latency you hear while playing along — takes recorded with a large buffer no longer land late on the grid
  • The option to have the Bar/Beat read out begin at 01:01
    • Tape now starts at B 01:01
  • Colour code markers
    • The Maker Edit view now contains a selection of alternative colors
  • FR: Clipmod - Remember Grid/Ms resolution
  • FR : Add LFO to Delay
    • The Master Delay time can now be modulated by an LFO for chorus / flanger sounds: Encoder 2 on the Master FX screen cycles Feedback → Width → Mod Rate (0.1–10 Hz) → Mod Depth (0–20 ms, 0 = off). Shift for fine steps.
    • Width now also sets the stereo phase offset of the LFO (0% = mono, 100% = 180°); ping-pong behaviour is unchanged.
    • Mod Rate / Mod Depth are MIDI-learnable on Encoder 2. Existing projects load with the LFO off and sound exactly as before.
    • The delay radar's time arc wobbles with the LFO.
  • FR : MIDI CC presets / FR: Midi Bank/Program change — custom piano roll
    • MIDI Device Profiles: JSON files in midi_profiles/ on the SSD describe a device's note names (drum sounds) and its CC list (names + order). Examples (GM Drums, TR-909, TR-808, Generic Synth) are created on first start. See the new manual page "MIDI Device Profiles".
    • Bind a profile per MIDI channel in UTILITY → MIDI → CH NAMES (Encoder 1 = row, Encoder 8 = profile, push = clear). Global — the same device on the same channel in every project.
    • MIDI Edit profile piano roll: with a profile that names notes, the piano on the left is replaced by the note names, one row per sound, rows expanded to fill the screen for up to 15 rows (more rows keep a readable height and scroll around the cursor); notes with data that are not in the profile keep a row labelled with the note name. Encoder 6 steps row by row; SHIFT + Encoder 7 push toggles the chromatic piano back.
    • MIDI Edit CC selector: the Named CC list becomes the profile's controllers (order + names); Free CCs lists everything else.
  • FR: Midi Bank/Program change / MIDI program change eventsMarker MIDI events
    • Markers can now send a Program Change (Bank Select MSB + Program, any channel) or a MIDI Transport command (START / STOP) when the playhead crosses them — one event per marker. Edit them in the marker editor (touch a marker): Encoder 4 = - / TRANS / PROG (- = no event, clears it), Encoder 5 = START/STOP or channel, Encoder 6 = PROG (push → BANK).
    • Program changes are caught up on play start, locate and loop wrap (latest program per channel at or before the playhead), so synths are in the right patch when starting mid-song. Transport events only fire when the marker is crossed, only as MIDI Clock Master, and independently of the TRANSPORT send flag (clock-aligned when CLOCK is on).
    • Markers with MIDI events show an M on the marker head. Receiving/recording program changes is not part of this (#42 stays open for that).
  • FR: Allow saving setting templates
    • Project Templates: SHIFT + SAVE AS (→ SAVE TMP) in the Project Browser saves the current project's settings as a template — track names, MIDI channels, mixer, Track FX, sends, Master FX / Mastering, external channel mapping, BPM / signature / metronome / record modes — without any audio, MIDI, automation or markers.
    • NEW gets an Encoder 1 template picker (TEMPLATE: --- / names). Templates are listed at the bottom of the browser as TEMPLATE: <name>; with one highlighted, LOAD becomes FROM TMP and creates a new project from it. Rename and delete work on templates too.
    • A template also carries the setup (audio interface configuration, MIDI sync, threshold record, tuner). It is applied when creating the project; the active audio interface is not switched automatically — a hint points to UTILITY > AUDIO when the template was saved with a different one.

Fixes

  • Project naming when save as
    • Saving a project as e.g. 9/8_1.4 created a nested folder that the project
browser never listed. Whenever a name becomes a file or folder (project
NEW / SAVE AS / RENAME / SAVE TMP / FROM TMP, BACKUP, EXPORT MIX / STEM,
      Save WAV / MID) the keys for / \ : * ? " < > | are now greyed out and
ignored, on the touch keyboard and on a USB keyboard alike.
    • Names consisting only of dots (., ..) can no longer be confirmed there.
    • Marker labels, track names and I/O / MIDI channel names are unaffected.
  • 1.2.1 - Clipmod - Panning FX is not working
    • Switched from an energy preserving algorithm to the same panning as in the mixer view. Energy preserving has the issue that highly correlated signals are not effected.
  • 1.2.1 - Pasting Speed FX Clipmod - Highlighted Wave Inconsistent
  • 1.2.0 (rare) audio signal turns bitcrushed
    • Fixed a possible issue with TrackFX Compressor
  • repitch knob in CLIPMOD not working correctly
    • Fixed an issue with the Grain calculation
  • Midi jitter reading between 4-5.5%
  • recording stops when switching screens
    • Fixed punch in, now only locks navigation if actually recording
    • Actions / Screen switches that have stopped recording silently now show an error
    • Recording is now globally indicated by a red border around the screen edges
  • Wrong project waveforms showing on project loaded
    • Also added a Rebuild Waveform function unter UTILITY -> DEBUG
  • track 8 freezes / gets stuck. have to power on/off
    • shrunk limit for all operations to 12min
    • but removed all caveats (buffer eviction). I think this makes the operations more predictable.
    • Improved on long (>8min) audio operations. We now clear Buffers (Clipboard, Undo, ...) when needed to avoid OOM situations.
    • New Limits: Increased Cut/Copy/Paste from 8min to 16min
    • Nudge: Increased from 2min to 4min
    • Clipboard Modifier: SPEED and WARP now respect the 16-minute limit across all copied tracks combined — the encoder stops at the last value that fits. If a setting won't go further, the result would exceed the clipboard limit.
    • Long operations now lock the controls. Copying, pasting, cutting, undoing or redoing more than ~1 minute of audio shows an overlay and ignores input until the operation is safely written to disk. Long pastes take a few seconds longer than before — the audio is now fully saved when the overlay disappears.
    • The USB browser keeps playing after Copy. Copying a file no longer stops the preview or clears the waveform — audition freely, then paste.
    • Browsing clears the clipboard. Selecting a new file in the USB browser empties the audio clipboard (it would be replaced by your next Copy anyway).
    • Multi-track Apply shows progress ("Track 3/8") in the Clipboard Modifier.
    • Undo keeps up to 16 minutes of audio history; older steps naturally fall off as you make new large edits. In two low-memory situations the device will additionally free history early — always with an on-screen message:
      • "CLIPBOARD CLEARED" — when undoing a very large paste while the clipboard still holds a large copy, the clipboard is released to make room (its content was already pasted).
      • "UNDO HISTORY TRIMMED" — when loading a very large file in the USB browser right after very large edits, the oldest undo steps (and redo) are freed to make room for the file. Files up to 8 minutes never trigger this; it only happens when a near-maximum file meets a near-maximum edit history.

    • Fixed Swing and Humanize
  • 1.2.1 - Nudging waveform visual waveform changes
  • Volume loss in audio tracks when using reverb send
    • Delay/Reverb sends now behave like true sends and don't attenuate the original signal
  • Midi input monitor always on
    • Added dedicated Midi Monitor in the settings, (press Encoder8 to cycle Audio/Midi Monitor)
  • noise or dc offset when engaging drive in master section
  • External Audio: Single Track - No Return Volume / Mix available

    • Also fixed a recording bug related to Loop + Count-In

Other

  • Mastering: the LUFS 3s / TP 3s readout is now drawn with outlined text directly on the output meter instead of on a dark overlay box — the meter stays fully visible behind it
  • Grid and delay-time encoders in fine time signatures
    • In x/16, x/32 and x/64 signatures, turning a grid encoder (overview grids, MIDI edit grid, quantize, clipboard, audio edit) or the beat-synced delay time past the finest value snapped it to 1/0. The finest grid is now 1/128; a stored 1/0 heals itself on the next turn
    • The beat-synced delay time is a note value, so its range is 1/1 … 1/64 in every time signature (it used to stop at 1/16 in x/1, 1/32 in x/2, …)
  • Master Delay: changing the delay time while playing no longer crackles
    • Time changes (ms and beat-synced) now crossfade between the old and the new delay tap over 40 ms instead of stepping the tap — no clicks, no pitch-bend artefacts, and the new time is fully in effect after 40 ms (previously it drifted towards the target for a long time, clicking on every step).
    • Feedback and Width now respond within ~30 ms (their smoothing constant was accidentally ~60 s, so they used to creep towards the new value).
    • Toggling the Delay on/off and toggling Ping-pong no longer click: both switches now ramp over 20 ms. The delay engine keeps running while off, so switching it back on picks up the current signal instead of thawing an old buffer.
    • Delay off now mutes the delay return (like the Reverb already did). Previously the delay sends still passed through dry when the delay was off, so tracks with a delay send got louder when switching it off.
  • Master Reverb: toggling on/off and switching the algorithm no longer cut the tail abruptly
    • The running reverb ramps out over 20 ms before it is switched off or swapped for the new algorithm, which then ramps in — no more click on a ringing tail. Off still costs no CPU once the ramp is done.
  • MIDI Edit: step-recorded notes are no longer cut short
    • Notes entered with STEP RECORD (via ADD or played in) were shortened by 144 ticks — a leftover from when that gap was 144 samples to keep a following note-on from colliding with the note-off. Playback already sends note-off before note-on at the same tick, so step-recorded notes now get the full grid length, identical to ADD without step record.
  • Arrange Audio and MIDI together: hold AUDIO + MIDI and press Cut / Copy / Paste
    • The operation runs on both sides in one gesture — the marker region is taken from every unmuted audio track and every unmuted MIDI track, and Paste writes both clipboards back, each track onto its own track (no bouncing). Meant for moving whole song sections without leaving half the arrangement behind.
    • Keep the two buttons held to chain: Copy, move the playhead, Paste, all in one grip.
    • One Undo reverts both halves (and Redo restores both), from either screen, shown as UNDO Audio + MIDI. Edit one domain on its own afterwards and Undo stays per-domain: on that domain's screen it reverts the newer edit first, and once that is undone the following Undo pairs both domains again; on the other screen it reverts that side's half of the chord on its own, and from then on the two halves are undone and redone independently. The pairing also needs the chord's audio step to still be within the 12-minute undo history.
    • Fix: MIDI Cut/Copy now snaps to a marker the playhead sits just short of, the way audio always did — previously it took the previous region in that spot, which is exactly where a marker jump leaves the playhead.
  • Fix: device freeze on Audio + MIDI Undo/Redo (reported as a freeze on Redo after a chord Undo, and as a stuck UNDO Audio + MIDI overlay with a dead power button)
    • The audio thread could wait forever for a waveform-buffer slot that only an audio screen releases, so an Audio+MIDI Undo/Redo — or any audio write started while the MIDI Overview is showing — wedged it mid-operation behind its blocking overlay. The buffer is now sized for all its readers and the UI keeps its slot fresh on every screen.
    • Related hardening: the MIDI side of a linked Undo/Redo no longer closes the audio side's in-progress overlay early, an Undo/Redo press that arrives while a worker is still busy with the previous one is dropped instead of blocking the UI, and the power button now gets through a blocking overlay.
  • Improving Rec Offset resolution with high Buffer sizes
    • Buffer Size had an effect on the precision of Rec Offset (80 -> 1.6ms granularity, 144 -> 3ms granularity) With this fix Rec Offset should be exact ms numbers (when measuring offset with Audio Edit, please keep in mind the Screen operates in Midi Ticks, so sub ms readings are inaccurate)
  • MidiEdit - Added same CLEAR Behavior as for Audio Automations. Now Clears automation with respect to Marker positions
  • AudioEdit-Edit: Allow Playback at/after END when LOOP is on
    • Previously playback was not allowed after End based on this FR
    • Now pressing Play at/after END is allowed
