Upgrade notes:

  • The bundled core is now 0.60.0, which speaks control-plane protocol 36. A remote server has to run core 0.60.0 too: this version does not connect to 0.59.0, and 2026.10.1 and earlier do not connect to 0.60.0.
  • Request history is kept.
  • Auxiliary requests have two modes now (see Auxiliary requests). If a kind under Routing › Auxiliary was ever set to Pass through or Use routing, config.yaml holds passthrough or route for it under client_probes:. Core does not start with either, and the app shows that core is not running until each one is changed to forward or its line is deleted. 2026.10.3 shows the line at fault and repairs it in one click. Kinds that were never changed are not in the file and are not affected.
  • Release files are now named ThinkWatch-Lite-<version>-<darwin|windows|linux>-<arch>…. Installed copies keep updating as before.

Auxiliary requests:

  • Each kind of auxiliary request is either answered locally or forwarded. Forward replaces Pass through and Use routing, which both went through the routing rules and differed only in whether a rule's Auxiliary request condition could match.
  • A forwarded auxiliary request goes through the routing rules like any other request, and a rule's Auxiliary request condition matches it with no further setting, for example to send titles to a lower-cost upstream.
  • The rule dialog points out when the condition names a kind that is answered locally, since such requests never reach routing.
  • A dry run of a forwarded auxiliary request evaluates the rules.

Windows portable build:

  • One zip each for x64 and ARM64. Extract it and run "ThinkWatch Lite.exe"; no administrator rights are needed.
  • Data lives in a data folder next to the program, separate from the installed copy.
  • Updates install after a single confirmation, without an elevation prompt.

Windows:

  • Only one ThinkWatch Lite runs at a time. Opening a copy from another location says so and offers to stop the running one and start this one instead; the running one waits for requests in progress before it quits.
  • System notifications no longer depend on a Start menu shortcut; thinkwatch:// links and launch at login always point at the running copy.
  • Uninstalling from Windows Settings first restores taken-over clients. Ticking "Also delete data" now deletes the configuration, API keys and request history, and an incomplete cleanup is reported.
  • Clients connected by another ThinkWatch Lite are marked as such and are restored from that copy.
  • A missing WebView2 runtime is reported with a download link.
  • The interface and system dialogs follow per-monitor scaling and stay sharp on scaled displays.

Fixes:

  • Running an older version after a newer one no longer clears the request history: the older version records nothing for that run and leaves the history for the newer one.

The Features page describes each of these in full.

Linux, aarch64 ThinkWatch-Lite-2026.10.2-linux-aarch64.AppImage

Each file is published with a .sha256 file beside it. latest.json is the manifest for in-app updates, and install.sh is the Linux install script.

On Windows, the portable ZIP runs without installation or administrator rights: extract it to any writable folder and start ThinkWatch Lite.exe. Its settings stay in the data folder beside it, separate from an installed copy, and it updates itself in place.

On macOS, Homebrew installs the same disk image:

brew install --cask thinkwatchproject/tap/thinkwatch-lite

On Linux, the install script downloads the AppImage for the machine's architecture, checks its SHA-256 and installs it as ~/Applications/ThinkWatch-Lite.AppImage:

curl -fsSL https://github.com/ThinkWatchProject/ThinkWatch-Lite/releases/latest/download/install.sh | sh

Both commands install the latest release. First-launch steps for each platform, such as removing the quarantine attribute from a copy downloaded on macOS, are described in the README.

Verifying a download

A .sha256 file holds the SHA-256 of the file followed by its name. With both files in the current directory, on macOS:

shasum -a 256 -c ThinkWatch-Lite-2026.10.2-darwin-arm64.dmg.sha256

On Linux:

sha256sum -c ThinkWatch-Lite-2026.10.2-linux-x86_64.AppImage.sha256

On Windows, in PowerShell, the following prints True when the installer matches:

(Get-FileHash .\ThinkWatch-Lite-2026.10.2-windows-x64-setup.exe).Hash -eq (Get-Content .\ThinkWatch-Lite-2026.10.2-windows-x64-setup.exe.sha256).Split()[0]

The Homebrew cask and the Linux install script check the SHA-256 themselves.
