• The device checks for updates every six hours, not just once at boot.
  This box sits on a shelf next to a printer and plenty of them will never be
  switched off — a device that checks once in its life learns about one update
  and then stops.

  It says so once per version, not once per check. A version already declined
  stays declined: repeating the notice every six hours is nagging, and nagging
  is what teaches people to dismiss without reading. A newer version speaks
  up again, because that is news. The Update row in Settings stays orange
  either way.
