This PR adds support for (de-)serialization of R objects to/from files accessible via VFS.
SC 33286 has some backstory as well as a much appreciated hint by @ihnorton which unplugged this. Also big thanks to an unnamed friend who had the suggestion for using
packBits(intToBits()).
