v0.17.7
[0.17.7]
Fixed
samba-common-bin(needed fornmblookup, used since v0.15.0 for
LAN hostname display) was missing from bothinstall.shand
README's manual install instructions - added to both.
Changed
- README rewritten to reflect the current feature set: Tailscale
discovery, hostname display and friendly mount paths, credential
sharing across LAN/Tailscale addresses, the server-grouped Mounted
tab with disk usage bars and lazy-unmount fallback, the "open
without mounting" button (and its smb://-encryption caveat), and
Diagnostics' required/recommended tool split.
[0.17.6]
Fixed
- Listing shares on a host asked for login on every single app
restart, even when shares from that same server were already
mounted persistently (fstab) and their credentials were sitting
right there in the wallet - listing never checked the wallet at
all, only this session's in-memory cache (empty on every fresh
start). Now, before prompting, it checks whether any share on that
host is already mounted and tries that mount's saved wallet
credentials first.
[0.17.5]
Fixed
- "Open in file manager" now checks whether the share is already
mounted through this app first - if so, it opens the real local
folder (/mnt/servername/share) directly instead of browsing
smb://, sidestepping the KIO/libsmbclient encryption-support
limitation entirely for anything already mounted. The smb://
browsing path (with its pre-check) is now only used for shares that
aren't mounted yet.
[0.17.4]
Fixed
- Changing the display language rebuilds all tabs from scratch
(needed to re-render translated text), which was silently wiping
out this session's in-memory credential caches - forcing a fresh
login even for servers already used moments earlier. These caches
now live in a shared module (core/session_cache.py) instead of as
WizardTab instance attributes, so they survive a tab rebuild. - "Open in file manager" now does the same full credential lookup as
"Mount" (session cache, wallet, listing cache, then a login prompt
if genuinely needed) before testing browsability - previously it
could test with no credentials at all and misdiagnose "we don't
have a login yet" as "this server doesn't support browsing". - Discovery tab now refreshes each expanded host's Mount/Mounted
button state whenever the tab becomes visible again - previously,
unmounting a share from the Mounted tab left it shown as "Mounted"
back in Discovery until the app was restarted.
Known limitation
- The pre-check before "Open in file manager" is a best-effort
heuristic using a separate smbclient connection - it can still miss
cases where KIO's own browsing session fails differently per-share
even on the same server (its own confusing error may still appear
occasionally).
[0.17.3]
Added
- "Open in file manager" now tests the share via
smbclientfirst,
using whatever credentials are already known for it, before handing
off toxdg-open. Some servers (notably those with
smb encrypt = mandatoryin smb.conf) can fail here even though a
real mount works fine - libsmbclient's SMB3 encryption support lags
behind the kernel module's - and KDE's own error for that case is a
confusing "file or directory does not exist". A clear, own message
is now shown instead, suggesting "Mount" as the alternative.
[0.17.2]
Fixed
- Saved mount credentials are now keyed by hostname (when known)
instead of the raw address - previously, the same physical server
reachable both via LAN and via Tailscale under two different IPs
was treated as two unrelated servers, each needing its own saved
password. They now share one wallet entry.
[0.17.1]
Fixed
- Discovery tab: button rows (Mount/Persist/Open, and the server
remove button) now have a small right margin instead of touching
the column's edge directly.
[0.17.0]
Added
- Small folder-icon button next to each share in Discovery to open it
directly in the system's file manager viasmb://host/share
(throughxdg-open), without mounting it through this app at all -
useful for a quick look without committing to a full mount.
v0.16.2
[0.16.2]
Removed
core/credentials.py- empty, unused stub left over from an early
version.- Dead
include_optionalparameter onget_missing_packages()-
never called withTrueanywhere. OPTIONAL_TOOLSalias incore/diagnostics.py- nothing referred
to it besides its own definition;RECOMMENDED_TOOLSis used
directly now.
Fixed
- Last remaining Polish-language comment in
main.py, missed by the
earlier full English pass because it had no Polish-specific
characters to grep for.
[0.16.1]
Fixed
- Mounted tab: selecting a share and then clicking "Unmount selected"
could silently do nothing if the 3-second auto-refresh happened to
fire in between - the refresh rebuilds the tree from scratch,
which was quietly wiping out the selection. The currently selected
share (matched by its mountpoint) is now preserved across refreshes.
[0.16.0]
Added
- Mount points now use the friendly hostname for the directory name
(e.g./mnt/torrentserver/storage) instead of the sanitized IP
(/mnt/192_168_0_201/storage), when a hostname is known. The actual
SMB connection - and the fstab entry for persistent mounts - always
still uses the real IP address, never the hostname, since that
doesn't depend on any name resolution working at boot/mount time.
Falls back to the old IP-based naming if no hostname is known for
that server. - Mounted tab now groups shares by server instead of a flat list -
e.g.torrentserveras a parent row withstorageand
storage20tbunderneath it. Unmounting a server-group row (instead
of a specific share) shows a message asking you to pick the
individual share instead.
