Rift Runners Wiki

Map version 1.6

Rift Runners is a co-op roguelite custom map for Warcraft III: Reforged, for 1 to 6 players. Pick a hero, fight through the rifts room by room, choose your path through portals, and build your hero up with new skills, upgrade paths, relics and consumables until you fall. Then spend the Shards you earned and go again.

How a run goes

  1. Pick a hero from three random cards: the Wanderer, Frostfire Magus, Gravecaller, Blood Knight or Ranger.
  2. Learn your first skill, then step onto a portal.
  3. Clear rooms. Every room is a fresh arena full of enemies. When it is clear you get the reward its portal promised (New Ability, Upgrade Ability, Relic, Supplies or Cash), and new portals show what the next rooms offer.
  4. Floors are 10 rooms: four fights, a miniboss, more fights, a chance to visit the Shop, and a boss. The floors cycle through the Whispering Woods, the Frozen Wastes and the Burning Depths, harder every time.
  5. The run ends when every hero has fallen. Cleared rooms paid you Shards, which you keep for the Shard Shop: permanent upgrades, new heroes and new relics.
  6. Hard Mode. Beat the floor 3 boss to unlock Hard Mode: far tougher enemies, more Shards.

Quick start

  • Your skills are on Q W E D R: light (Q), heavy (W), movement (E), defense (D), ultimate (R). Heroes have no mana; only cooldowns limit you.
  • Every slot offers a skill from each of your hero's three builds. Sticking to one build unlocks its relics.
  • Skills pick an upgrade path at levels 3 and 6. At level 10 every regular skill also gets a Mastery, a bigger version of its second path (gold border on the button).
  • Learn your hero's resource first (Momentum, Temperature, Souls, life, Focus): it is the key to every hero.
  • Read the portal labels. Elite rooms are harder but give their reward twice.
  • Watch for room events: a Treasure Goblin to chase, a house to protect, and after some clears a chest, altar, champion or horde you can take on for more rewards.
  • Relics show at the top left; hover them. Consumables go in your six item slots, one per slot.
  • A skill, relic or consumable choice can be put away with its Hide button (top left) to see the game; the Show button under your relics brings it back. Nothing is picked while it is hidden.
  • In co-op, stand on a portal to vote for it. A fallen ally lies in a green circle: stand in it to revive them.
  • The in-game quest log (F9) has a short guide.

New players: start with the Wanderer (fast melee) or the Ranger (stand still and shoot). Buy Rerolls, Vitality and Recovery early in the Shard Shop; the Gravecaller and Blood Knight cost 60 Shards each.
