Firmware 23.0, a macOS app, a Linux viewer for any distribution, and GPU upscaling in the viewer.

Console

  • Firmware 23.0 / Atmosphère 1.12 supported (built against Atmosphère 1.12; confirmed on a Switch Lite on 23.0.0). Firmware 21, 22 and 23 stream without allow_untested_firmware.
  • HOME menu while streaming: pressing HOME ends the stream and gives its memory back within about a second, and it comes back when the game is on screen again - manuals and the eShop opened from the HOME menu no longer crash (thanks bshurikan, PR #13). detach_on_home = 0 keeps the old behaviour.
  • USB is released while streaming is off (overlay or manager app), so other USB apps can use the port (thanks masagrator).
  • Screenshots: Save to: With the system's screenshots puts the native-resolution PNGs in the console's Album folder (Nintendo/Album/year/month/day, emuMMC too); the manager's gallery shows both places.
  • Your own screenshot combo (Buttons -> Custom): record any buttons, optionally with the Capture button (e.g. ZL + Capture) - you get Nintendo's JPEG and the native PNG.
  • Recordings always have a complete audio track, also for games whose sound does not reach the viewer (thanks kingboxnt).

PC viewer

  • macOS app (Apple Silicon and Intel, macOS 12+; thanks proconsule54 and DiM3NT0R). Not signed by Apple: the first time, right-click it and choose Open.
  • Linux: one download for every distribution (Ubuntu, Fedora, Arch, Bazzite, SteamOS - x86_64): unpack and run ./install.sh.
  • Lower latency: one decode thread with no decoder delay (~16 ms less; a slow PC switches itself back to two threads). V turns vsync off for even lower latency (may tear) - on by default (thanks Vichrov, #9).
  • GPU upscaling (U, off by default): AMD FSR 1 and NVIDIA Image Scaling on Windows and Linux, plus NVIDIA RTX Video Super Resolution on Windows (turn on Super resolution in the NVIDIA app; it adds a few ms of latency). It helps when the window is bigger than the stream - handheld games in fullscreen, or docked on a 1440p / 4K screen. The full stats overlay (F3) shows what it is doing. Recordings are not affected.

Installing / updating: unzip switch-frame-tap-0.7.11-switch.zip over the SD card root and reboot (settings are kept), and get the viewer for your PC: -windows-viewer.zip, -linux.tar.gz, or -macos-arm64.zip / -macos-x86_64.zip. Also on the Homebrew App Store.
